If you don’t like the torrent DH, the bottle rocket and the Marin quake you might not have kids who are regularly sending their carcasses— emulating Everything they see on YouTube— I do have kids. They don’t quite send yet…. but my fellow parents that have high school aged kids that send ( like what the fuck!! These “kids” are sending seriously raw lines, maybe not heavy af but the youth are currently charging hard everywhere and always ) are always pleased to see much cheaper, and aluminum frames that aren’t going to break the demographic for these “ not...

The Torrent isn't for bike nerds. It's for people that set it and forget it and spend their day lapping A-Line and Dirt Merchant. And for that purpose, the Torrent sounds like a perfect bike. Simple, reliable (hopefully) and affordable.

I will probably get flamed for this, and will offer the caveat that I have only been skimming this page, but I feel like these bikes are great propositions and are in my eyes cool bikes because they’re made to be cheap and practical workhorses for younger demographics that don’t have as much disposable income and want a playful park...

I have to admit, I do not love the side profile of some of the 32" bikes that are coming out. They end up looking like XS bikes with cramped triangles and kinked bottom/top tubes. Hopefully more progressive geo will enable these things to look like something other than a 2010-2012 era niner.

Extremely hot take in the bad way lol. Marin makes awesome bikes, I regularly check them out. Transition as well, albeit a little spendier but also more dialed (imo). The only reason I don’t buy either is because I already own a 6 year old Norco that has given me zero reasons to spend money on a new bike,

That's a hot take on things. A lot of us don't care if a bike is inside the box or outside it, we just want it to be a good time. Oh, and pretty much all mountain bikers are uncool. That's fine with me, I don't really like the cool people anyway.

Not trying to be argumentative but I do completely disagree with that first point. Quake... MAYBE, but anybody wanting to race I think will look elsewhere. The bottlerocket is blatantly marketed as not a race bike. I guess the status DH isn't talked about but I think its a sleeper sick bike. Maybe because there's one at my LBS that's for sale for 3k out the door. The industry needs as many cheap aluminum double crown bikes as it can handle. Bike park laps on these types of bikes is in my opinion the purest form of the sport. Just...

A nearly 13 YO helmet is a total non-starter. The ProFrame is DH rated, and MIPS. That pretty much ends it. I have a TLD D4. This will be its 5th year of use. That will be the end. It will be replaced next year. Will it suck to spend up to $800 to replace it? Yep. I’m pretty sure Neuro ICU rates are pretty high too though.

Mayb the thread should be retitled, something like “tech rumors and innovation… and bitching about it.”

I am not seeing how the last 4 pages of this thread have anything to do with rumors or innovation.

I want to preface this by saying I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything, but it seems to me that people complaining that the bike wasn't made for them is partially what lead to the V6 Tallboy the way it is. It's become part of the homogenous mass of Horst link bikes. I remember times when people complained about a new bike coming out and it not being Horst link, like the g3 Kona Process. Or it's like every time a bike comes out and people complain that the chainstays aren't long enough, or the stack isn't high...

Uh, that's most bike buyers. The number of people that I've sold bikes to who don't care/know what the knobs do is... the majority. We do our best to educate, but I could see their eyes glaze over in the first 10 seconds. The number of customers who care about how suspension works is less than 5% in my experience.

It seems that the Chromag is more of a park, freeride trick bike.. The numbers make sense for that..

I’d love to see a shoot out of trail bikes using the same linkage designs. It would really interesting to start to dig a bit deeper as to what sets them apart - quality control, kinematics, maintenance, etc etc.

I used to struggle with hand pain for a long time; over my many attempts to find a solution for my problems, I believe I've arrived at a pretty good setup. For one, I don't wear gloves anymore. I can't say I've had my gloves bunch up, but I did find that I gripped harder when I wore them, which contributed to my hand fatigue. Going gloveless meant I had to find a nice pair of grips that didn't get too slippery when my hands started to sweat. As opposed to thick grips, I found that thin mushroom-style grips like...

If you're running into blistering that part of your palm, give us some real info here. What grips are you running? Got a pic? Show us a side angle shot of your bike with how your bars are rolled forward, back & a separate pic of the grips. Only thing that really causes bunching is glove fit & a grip that is too big for your hands. What size hands/gloves do you wear? I can run a half dozen different gloves (and do) but only time they bunch in my palm is if it's raining or I have my winter...
