I'm not sure anyone who's one PB or Vital forums can claim to be core. When I think of core, I think of dudes that ride and spend their free time riding and building in the woods without a second thought about what's happening on the internets. Two I can think of are: Honza in Squamish - rides a clapped...

Kids are wearing slip on Vans, baggy jeans and t-shirts. Not sure they're gonna be wearing airbags. Also, I'm not convinced wearing an airbag is going to help prevent catastrophic injuries when someone decides to pull a double back flip off a cliff when literally everyone around him has been telling him it's stupid for years. An airbag certainly wouldn't...

All this gearbox talk has me thinking about all the ones that didn’t take off ~Graduation (Friends forever) by Vitamin C plays ~ I also wonder what a new look at either setup could yield

All i can confirm here is that it does not look like someone took a chainsaw to it, but they have not taken a spartan approch to the design. I think it's going to create a big bang when it drops.

I'm waiting for drivetrain-free systems to catch on. Aaron Gwin demonstrated the benefits of pedal-free DH long ago, but sponsorship for that approach seems to be lacking. Imagine, no DR, no cassette, no chain, freedom to use any crank length or even pegs if you want.

Could you imagine a DH series with no pedaling allowed? I think they do that for the pump-track world series. We also have a chainless category for our local beer league DH series and it's the most fun. 10/10 would support a move to chainless DH races. Ha ha.
All this drivetrain efficiency/Gearbox discussion is making me think about the joy I get from riding my singlespeed.

I typically use the climb switch once per ride. I like to turn it on halfway up the climb when I remember I have it and might as well use it. I tend to turn it off halfway down the descent when I’m puzzling over why my suspension isn’t working. I suspect I am not in the minority.

I miss those races so much. Such a good time, great racing, great people, me running around with either a whiskey or tequila bottle forcing people to take shots, and as always the funny looks my Nicolai thru axle track bike would get.

A properly supported Angel on a winning bike is someone who has been able cross the line in the green in the past. Angels had some rough luck over the years with weird team dynamics, teams folding, and injury. I'd love to see 2-3 seasons of that guy healthy and supported.

I was listening to a road biking podcast recently. One of the guests on the podcast is currently a DS for a bigger team and used to be a world tour rider. One of the things that came up in discussion is how absolutely insane the new generation of riders are. They are SO fast. They are SO good in their training. They are SO dialed in their nutrition and recovery. The guest made a point to bring up an interesting-to-me factoid: They can't let the younger riders anywhere near the big-name riders during team training rides. None of them...

Aventon should just go back to making fixed gears, and not repainted V10's.
