Three new bikes dropping from Whyte today, two regular mountain bikes and one Avinox M2S-powered eeb. Brief overview below: Sythe The Sythe is a 170/160mm alloy enduro bike built for steeper, faster and more technical riding. With Quad-Link suspension, adjustable geometry and MX compatibility, it’s designed for riders who prioritize descending performance but still want a bike they can pedal all day. Sythe is offered in two build options - the S and RS. The former offers the same incredible value as all Whyte’s S-level kits, this time thanks to the Marzocchi Bomber Z1s and Bomber Air piggyback shock. Meanwhile...

Haha, yeah that was me! I saw it again two weeks ago, it was full of telemetry devices this time. I asked when it was coming out and the guy tried to tell me it was a Pivot this time 'round. Can't imagine how it doesn't get released later this summer/fall as a '27 model considering how tidy it currently looks and the fact they are riding it at high noon on the most popular trail network in the Golden. Might need to just post up in the bushes with a camera next time...

That totally makes sense too. It still amazes me though as I love a good rabbit hole and he seems like the kind of guy that would too. A example for me is this quick video of my "one notes" on suspension setup for my Smuggler that I bought start of 2019. This was my first air sprung bike having...
Thinking of myself, I don't know that I'm that consistent of a rider yet. I'm similar to your friend in that I'm a musician and someone who isn't afraid to dive into the details of anything. I've been riding 3 years and I find myself a little too inconsistent in my riding to imagine bracketing to be a super useful practice. I feel like I'll get more out of trusting my bike and just learning to ride it better. If I were to guess, one of the things your friend and I might also have in common is that we...

This 100%. I have a mate who got into riding 18mths ago. He's the kind of guy that is all about the intricacies of Tomas Haake's polyrythmic drumming and any other complex undertakings, but as soon as I try and explain to him that he needs to spend a couple of hours one day bracketing his setup and his riding...

Jesus, sorry I asked about a coil shock on the new Tallboy.

You have less to push against with a more linear bike. If you look at wheel force normalized for sag it all makes more sense than just looking at leverage curve. The wheel force is always identical at the sag point when normalized for sag. The more progressive layout will have a higher wheel force past sag and lower wheel force before sag in comparison.

If we didn't overreact on the internet, does the product even exist? It's our version of "if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" 🤣

You have to remember the true target market of this bike....if you really need that much extra resistance then a Tallboy is the wrong bike for you, full stop. The forum guys wanting to run a coil shock are a niche of a niche type of mountain biker so they aren't going to design the bike with that in mind. I also don't think its that far off, and they maybe chose to ship it with that shock spec so people can easily remove the spacers if that need to. And plenty of people have run coil shocks in bikes...

Progression is only around 15%, so maybe with a good HBO or bottom out system? It was stated that there is reservoir clearance, but probably not really coil friendly. It is quite appropriate that Santa Cruz launched their new Smuggler in Bellingham. 😁

Just following up on this post/question. I now have 3 rides on this setup, the first one didn't count because in typical sram/maxima mineral oil bleed challenges, I developed some soft levers half way through the ride. At any rate I am really happy with how these brakes turned out. The combo of the maven base master cylinders and the db8 brakes are honestly perfect for a trail brake. These have a lot more power than codes and the combination with the direct link maven base master cylinder makes for a very light lever feel but a nice ramp up...

We already know his name as he's been making waves for some time already (which is crazy to say given that he's only 11 at present), but Weston Lukens aka " Wes_sends" is set to take the next step now as he has signed on with Neko Mulally's Frameworks program. They've developed a custom 24/26 mullet for him to ride, and by the looks of this reel, Wes is feeling at home on the new rig already. The future is bright...in fact, the future is now!

Be so cool to see an Evil DH bike again. When Evil first launched with the Revolt in alloy I think they had quite a few warranty frames. They replaced all or nearly all. Not sure if material, fabrication, heat treating or what, but I remember a lot of them breaking. That was like 15 years ago, if not longer. I think the Undead (the carbon DH bike) were much more reliable. Then they shifted their focus to trail and enduro bikes. Since then, Sorge and others have ridden their enduro (Wreckoning) bike at Rampage and such without seeing that...
