I’m confused that you both are confused about this. The “bitch crank”, as I used to see it referred to on Bmx forums as a teenager, is very normal. If you don’t think you have quite enough speed, then you just do a couple ratchets before you get to the object you’re hitting. It’s kind of a fidgety quirky move as you both said, but very normal for someone to do as they mentally prepare for something. I see people do it all the time in mountain biking as well, as they approach an obstacle and try to make sense...

It’s runs like Kai’s that make me miss Rob Warner. These commentators are talking like Kai rides for Frameworks, when if they were on site or talked to enough riders and managers they would know he had to borrow Dedora’s FW bike because his bike broke during the flight to NY. If WB wants to tell stories and create drama, then it’s crazy to me how they miss little details like that.

A bit of self promotion here... but here is a downhill bike I've been developing for those interested!

I love that 1199 has a legit sense of place, a few tough pedals means its true Sea to Sky riding. Watching it you're thinking "yeah, that's Whistler." Riding there is rarely a steep rip top to bottom. It's all about linking interesting sections and slabs, often with traverses or grunts between them. Everyone, when you're in Whistler go do at least one day on the valley trails. Climb the flank or the road up to the Blackcomb trails. It'll hurt, but it'll be amazing. Mountain biking.
