sspomer Liked a forum topic PIT BITS - iXS European DH Cup 1

The first round of the 2026 iXS European Downhill Cup is taking place in Portugal this weekend. With World Cup #1 just around the corner, there are some Elite heavyweights getting their last cobwebs shaken among a field of regional racers. Rick Schubert cruised the pits to see if there was anything interesting. Lo and behold, there was. A lot of the bikes and brands aren't super familiar to us stateside, so drop your knowledge in the comments.

I ride Odi Rogue grips gloveless and I love them. Great damping, take a long time till they are worn down. I also liked Esi Chunkys for their damping, but they wore quickly and if you crash, they tear easily.

Like you say in the linked comment, the difference of compounds is much more significant than the difference in casings for enduro tires. So if you don't need more grip in the rear, go for a rear tire with a hard compound for sure. It will be much faster. From maxxis, there are sadly not many Dual tires with DD...

Bullshit reasoning. 200 miles is nothing, if you are not constantly riding dh trails or keep on skidding the tire on asphalt

Anyone know when Vee is making their RAD core stuff available to purchase?

Not only the effect as a lever, also the effect of localized stress through the mounting point instead of through a wider area through the helmet shell plays a big role here. Eg Schumacher's brain damage was caused partly by a camera that split the helmet iirc

Those are tires from the Specialized race tire lab with blank sidewalls. Specialized dropping their Radial tires by/at Sea Otter. Loic and Finn have likely been on custom casings for a while. Might not be full consumer Radial as those guys like a particular casing (used only in the Cannibal).

The only thing I noticed was that the photos on the “new” tires have no sidewall graphics/logo. So seems either there some updated graphics coming that’ll be uploaded at a later time, or there’s some new casings and there are all place holders for a drop soon.

when i first clicked the link, it was definitely this version: new one must not have been live yet at the time in my region, possibly due to time zones / embargos. the update is what's shown now.

No, look at the bridge with the topology optimized arch. Finally a damper that "sits higher in the travel", never heard of that before. Probably should end up at full lockout with how many times the iterations sat higher in the travel than the ones before

Frame storage DOES add weight. A tube is a pretty amazing piece of a construction element. Lightand stiff in multiple directions, in torsion and bending, bending left and right AND up and down. The problem is the moment you cut into it, while a small hole won't really affect things that much, a long slit will though, you're breaking all of it. So to make a downtube with a big hole cut into it to be able to fit things inside of it, you need to add a lot of material around the rim to bring back the stiffness. A...

Their current gen Reign aluminium frame doesn't hold up either. The chainstays have a little hole where the shifting cable should enter. That's where they like to start cracking. Also the quality control is bad on these frames in my opinion. Not cleanly pressed in bearings leaving edges in the bearing seats, bad alignment. They have stuff to improve on...

I wouldn't put much weight in the enduro mag test findings - the results don't make any sense. I see a few issues: 1. Shimano XTR, XT, and SLX all have the same mechanical and hydraulic power output, but the test results show them as being wildly different. 2. They also show TRP DHR evo as dramatically underperforming XTR. Having used both, this is just incorrect... 3. And lastly, XTR being next to Maven in terms of test results in laughable. XTR is a cross country brake compared to maven stopping power. Based on the wild discrepancy between mechanically equal...
