The first round of the 2026 iXS European Downhill Cup is taking place in Portugal this weekend. With World Cup #1 just around the corner, there are some Elite heavyweights getting their last cobwebs shaken among a field of regional racers. Rick Schubert cruised the pits to see if there was anything interesting. Lo and behold, there was.
A lot of the bikes and brands aren't super familiar to us stateside, so drop your knowledge in the comments.

i'd love to know what's the purpose of that ugly lip around the back bolt on that caliper
Is that the new Saint brake, just the caliper has been machined down more from the other proto calipers?
The proto had bottom loading pads
Obviously it's meant to stiffen the caliper and give better lever feedback as a result, to me it looks very cool and smart design, surprised it hasn't been tried before.
Adjustable flange width on the Newmen hubs?
Yep, they look exactly like the variable hubs they used for their 32 inch wheel stiffness study
