8/9/2026 12:05am I think you and I have already had this exact same conversation, but okay let's review my points again: 1. Lab tests ≠ absolute truth. Not all tests are created equal. People in these forums have repeatedly made the claim that radial tires roll slower than bias ply tires, but the tests they've shared to back up these claims ( example from Schwalbe's lab here) were performed on steel drums in a laboratory. Steel drums have been resoundingly proven to not be a reliable proxy for even smooth asphalt, let alone rough asphalt, gravel, or real world trail conditions. If...

8/2/2026 10:45pm How often is shifting under load a result of shifting too late? With a gearbox you’re able to shift at any other time. It may open more shifting windows than it closes

8/1/2026 12:15am They have nothing wrong with their bikes. Like remove the brand from the frame and Im intrigued. But you put ari on it and I just hate it. Astroturfing, diapers and basic bikes to look like theyre apart of the same boat as Canyon or Specialized, then they just have this design… they just infuriate me lol.

8/1/2026 12:15am Am I the only one that thinks using a bike diaper to hide pretty basic suspension is kinda lame. I guess it gets the people talking though.

7/30/2026 12:33am I get missing the Red Bull free coverage, and I agree the commentary and broadcast quality still have room for improvement compared to then WB started. But if you're in New Zealand, it's actually one of the cheapest places in the world to watch the World Cup. MTBWS TV is only US$5.99 a month, which is about NZ$10, because New Zealand doesn't have a Warner Bros / Discovery broadcast partner and they use their own Staylive platform. At the end of the day, that's about the price of one beer at a pub each month and less than the price...

7/22/2026 8:07am Well from team muc off atleast Amaury have been running radials for the past two years, Myriam and the Alran brothers maybe less than that. So there is plenty of podiums. I'd bet that even the Dan he was using is an radial tyre.

7/20/2026 11:52am I have a few rides on the Specialized tires, Butcher Front / Eliminator rear on my 170mm bike from blown out dry to hero dirt in the backcountry (not purpose built or bike park). I also have a tacky chan + roamy in trail casing on my 130mm bike so have experience with radial. Main takeaways so far Improved grip over Conti DH (SS front, S rear) - Better braking right away was noticable, its like I added 15% braking power. It does not feel noticeably slower climbing on dirt than conti, although I haven't gone back to do a...

7/17/2026 11:07pm So it's NA only and behind a paywall, says its not available in UK, Germany etc. with VPN. Really a bummer if it stays like this.

7/7/2026 2:23am On the Downtime Podcast, Chris Hall, Neko Mulally, and Olly Morris were speculating that Specialized can give just that little extra support. They only have so much budget to allocate, and when Loic is on the box every week, it makes sense to try and keep him there. Also, Jordan and Finn have both independently said that their mentality just sort of clicked this year. Finn finally got a strong training offseason this year after chronic pain in years previous. He then got the confidence to know he could do it. Jordan said he had some mental struggles previously, even...

7/4/2026 2:33am I think part of the problem is that "MTB" covers a really diverse range of riding styles, and for the different styles, a variety of engineering requirements and interests. It's easy for people (myself included) to only consider the style(s) of riding they do when they promote or bash posts. I agree that there might be interesting trickle-down technology from the latest "moped" innovations in MGUs for predominantly gravity-driven forms of pedal MTBs. While the idea of a gearbox that is comparable in weight in efficiency to a conventional 1X drive train is exciting, from the engineering side of things...
