Fred_Pop Added a reply to Should You Reverse Your Stem? - Reece Wilson Setup Analysis
5/14/2026 7:05am I measure the handlebar height at the end of the grips because that is where my hands are. They aren't super high because my head angle is 62.5º with a steeper head angle the bars would be higher. Forward geometry was the beginning of making bikes longer but not as extreme as the setup of modern Nicolai G1 or even...

5/13/2026 1:12pm I'm running a -10mm stem (on off 10mm stem backwards aka mondraker components) with 90mm risers on my Nicolai G1. After 15 years running 20mm stems I'm not going back!

5/13/2026 12:42am So the Scale is: Vee tyre full radial 90º Schwalbe radial trail Schwalbe Gravity 2025 Schwalbe Gravity 2026 Specialized and E-Thirteen - closer to Diagonal Delirium - unknown but sound like the are closer to Specialized Diagonal tyres. Exo/Exo+/trail casing DD/enduro/super gravity DH casing Obviously, a full on DH diagonal is way stiffer compared to a radial but I'd be...

5/8/2026 12:47pm You mean filing a 23in fork to fit a 24.5in wheel. I was talking about filing a 24.5in fork to fit a 27in wheel. Which would only be possible if you remove the arch. I do agree that even with clearance the tyre would probably hit the bottom of the crown.

5/5/2026 1:56am Microspine drivers are a blight against humanity and should die in a fire along with the stupid plastic spacer they require to prevent Shimano cassettes from creaking like a haunted house. The only thing that might be worse than the microspine interface and its woefully anemic, made of cheese, lock ring might be the actual cassettes themselves which in the year of our lord 2026 still are half singe piece pinned garbage that falls apart and half stamped metal plates with spacers. Seriously, 12 speed shimano stuff is the most disappointing experience I've ever had with a drivetrain. I hate...

5/5/2026 1:55am Try doing it going flat or uphill and you'll notice how much better the shifting is. For going down I recommend putting the clutch back on.

5/4/2026 1:22pm Try riding a shimano derailleur with the clutch switched off and you'll feel the difference in performance shifting wise straight away.

5/4/2026 1:18pm I've been riding a Dorado since 2018. First on my Pole 176 and now on my Nicolai G1. I use it for everything from 7 hour all day rides in the alps to smashing out laps at the bikepark to riding my own backcountry trails. My bike is heavy at 19kg (42lb) but with the right gearing (22T front chain...

4/29/2026 2:20pm Being realistic about your terrain and fitness and biasing your gear usage to the middle of your cassette is going to be better for your drivetrain long term. If you wanna be a hero and only climb in first and second gear you’re gonna roast your cassette real fast.

4/27/2026 12:19pm Road bikes are stuck in the stone age due to UCI restrictions and nothing more. Without them they would look completely different. They probably have bigger wheels for sure.

4/27/2026 1:47am Tyre diameter is dependent on tyre size so it makes no sense to call wheelsize anything other than rim diameter, i.e. there's no such thing as 29er wheels.

4/21/2026 4:55am Mountain bikes should be designed to ride offroad not whether or not they fit on a bike rack. Now you can have geo for going fast and/or for being jibby, etc. BmB has gone down the dirt bike geo road even if he didn't initialy base it on that. He has been testing the limits and seeing what works and...
