Thanks for your time! This made great listening on a training slog of a ride I was in the middle of. I've come to racing pretty late in life and I'm trying to figure out how to get my head in the game knowing that my racing "hobby" isn't going to amount to much. Your thoughts were super helpful and...

my 2 cents after spending some time on the bike is that I really want to spend more time on the bike. A couple anecdotes here: I was surprised at how well it pedalled and the lack of heft that I was expecting after looking at it. After giving it back for a month I had to film on it with no time to get familiar again. First trail was a rapid North Van classic that I have ridden a bunch and I was immediately sending it. It was extremely poppy while still being planted, able to pull for all...

See, I dislike comments like this because instead of commenting on the actual merits of my microspline hatred you claim that it stems from a lack of "ability" and that I am not "worthy" of wrenching because of my opinions. At no point did I say I struggle with any of it, my argument is an will always be that...

I have a true love/hate relationship with the microspline, I really prefer the gear ratio of the MS over Sram, the 45t second gear is the perfect ratio for me, I use the granny bailout gear on maybe three occasions a year. But beyond that, it's a massive pain in the ass, the lockring will strip if you ever need to reinstall them, I'll drop the cassette nearly every time I remove it and then spend the next 15-20min looking for all the cogs and spacers, then remembering what spacer goes where... totally unnecessary. Recently got a new MS wheelset...

Microspine drivers are a blight against humanity and should die in a fire along with the stupid plastic spacer they require to prevent Shimano cassettes from creaking like a haunted house. The only thing that might be worse than the microspine interface and its woefully anemic, made of cheese, lock ring might be the actual cassettes themselves which in the...

And yet, they haven't introduced anything as good as the XD driver many years later. Don't be a homer.

Yeah, as someone who does HR based zone-oriented training a <32t is pretty amazing when i need to haul a heavy bike up something in zone 2. Sure I could ignore what I'm trying to accomplish on that ride and muscle my way up things and blow myself up in the process, but that's not always what you need to...

My guess is that you didn’t pull on the lower cage to release the button from setup mode, so it’s still “locked” in the setup mode. I’ve done that plenty of times, should be fine if you pull the cage forward to release the button from the cage.

String pot update... next iteration done and ready to ride. Testing duties will be delegated as I'm recovering from shoulder surgery but hopefully will have some results to share soon.
