I'm down to just big travel eeb and steel hardtail now. I don't regret my decision. Polar opposites in bikes but I can get my fix from either depending on the mood.

Similarly, I picked up an unused team frame back in 2014 (I think) and it was my favorite DH bike hands down. One of the few bikes I wish I still had.

I've had countless bikes, still chasing the dragon of my Ex Dean Lucas world champs wilsons rear suspension performance. There was so much trick stuff on that bike, coil converted world cup, proto 27.5 rear linkage. Dumbest move I ever made selling that bike

If I were SRAM I’d be worried. If I were Shimano I’d be shitting it

If this is their FEA mapping, I can tell why people keep breaking the downtube with their fork bumpers.

deadband is related to piston seal rollback. Any reduction in deadband due to thicker rotors will be temporary. It will return to normal as the pads wear, though the thicker rotors are likely to stay straight and the pads can be run closer to rotors for minimum deadband. Shimano has two bleed blocks for the new brakes, white one is for thicker rotors, old/yellow one is for 1.8 rotors.

I can't speak to the MT520 brakes, but I started a thread in 2020 to ask people about running 2.3mm rotors on Shimano brakes. Lots chimed in and nobody cited any problems with running that arrangement. But again, nobody specifically mentioned trying it MT520 brakes, so YMMV. If you do give it a try, share your results in the forum! https://www.vitalmtb.com/forums/The-Hub,2/2-3mm-rotors-on-Shimano-brake…

front chainring. went through similar recently, replaced every drivetrain component thinking the front chainring looked fine. Turns out it wasn't. Fixed my issue
