Seeing this dog in the pits and seeing my boy Asa take the win in person were highlights of an absolutely insane WC weekend

I made these spreadsheets to compare. It's only 2D not 3D so we can't compare all the permutations depending on Amaury's performance, but there are 3 basic sheets: AV vs JW, AV vs AP, and AP vs JW. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17BtOlT4lYjbgaYc-gpQUiFYZWUtZ10f…

you would be surprised how little a ton of dirt/sand/gravel goes when spread out. 10m x 10m x 10mm depth is 1m3, thats a light dusting. Let alone build anything.

those were the days, first 504W battery in trail, come back to the car, swap out the second battery in 30 seconds and then do another few laps in boost. The bikes were light but ugly with the external batteries.

Can we just cut to the chase and pre-emptively ban Dougal? I thought this place was the last safe haven from his bullshit. The schtick of poo-pooing everything on the planet is old as dirt and he ruins every conversation he butts in on. Doogs, you spend an awful lot of time on forums for someone who claims to be so busy. Go farm downvotes somewhere else.

That's an awfully confident statement from someone with little or no experience operating a company with large scale outsourced production, overseas or domestic. Care to share a factual example? Also what and who is a 'marketing type brand?' Last I checked the bike industry is collection of honest brands, riders, and designers trying their best to make products of value or improve the experience and enjoyment of other cyclists. Of course they also have to market and advertise if they want to stay in business, but both realities can coexist. You're the NZ distributer for Hayes/Manitou and operate a suspension...

I'm just waiting for the usual Dougal Crash out - which happens every single time someone disagrees with him regardless of who's right. 😏 - Popcorns in the microwave

I'm so glad I left engineering. Lol. This reminds me of discussions with my old boss who loved analysis and wouldn't leave us alone when we had anything vaguely interesting on the go. Trails have bumps. Bumps give momentary grip. the momentary grip results in a momentary braking force. The momentary braking force results in a momentary decrease in the effective spring rate if you have high AR. So the bike feels softer in the rear which is exactly what you want in the moment when your rear tire hits a bump riding down steep shit. Trails have corners. Even...

As an Aussie I have no idea wtf a prairie dog is lol, but in the words of another fine american, Ricky Carmichael, it's "huckabucking" basically getting tossed forward and back in an uncontrolled manner Porpoising is a rapid, repetitive bouncing or oscillating motion that occurs when a vehicle—most notably a Formula 1 car or a motorboat—moves up and down...

I found balance is super important in a high rise setup, but you are on the right track with softer front and slightly firmer rear. I found I can run less LSC in the fork. What you need to look out for on a long wheelbase high stack setup is porpoising in chunk. This is where having that F/R balance...

I'm riding one of these bikes now, fantastic until the battery shits itself 40km from home lol I figured out a reset of the battery fixes it, the arm of my riding glasses is the perfect tool to slide between my frame and battery and get the button. Been in the middle of nowhere makes you do Macguyver type shit.
The machine is basically a motor that turns a shaft, which is turned in to linear up and down motion. The software runs the machine faster and faster, and measures how much force the damper is producing at every point and speed in the stroke. My machine is a CTW "rotary" type dyno with 2 HP and one of the more basic, lower power machines on the market (I think about $15,000 USD today). CTW was born out of a company called Roehrig who pioneered workshop damper testing in the early 90's - many of the older racecar and motorcycle...

100% Honestly, we have a really good thing going here. We have amazing contributions from people doing amazing work across all aspects of mountain biking. We've had multiple owners of companies, other engineers, product testers and designers give incredible feedback on a wide variety of topics. Giving their time and their knowledge in constructive ways to help foster a level of bike nerd and discussion that you just don't get elsewhere, and they do that because vital isn't a cesspool of negativity and combative complaining. I'm sure everyone working on the hard part of designing, engineering, building, testing, is doing...

I won't sugarcoat it, He single handedly ruined MTBR suspension forum. There were so many knowledgable industry insiders, inventors, owners and passionate puzzlers on that forum and according to him they were all wrong, non-sensical ranting and bickering meant most of those incredible posters left the forum and didn't contribute anymore. Don't let history repeat itself is all I'm saying...
