Nobble Added a reply to Fork chassis, axles, friction: burnishing, chassis alignment, etc...
5/22/2025 12:48pm I could be wrong, but I think a moving bushing (like on a dirt bike) is actually more tolerant of misalignment.

5/21/2025 3:29pm Holy mother of God!!! I would not want that thing anywhere near my bushings (fork or otherwise)!! For real, as @Dave_Camp said this thing will do all kinds of nasty stuff to the bushings besides burnish it to size. This is what is recommended by GGB for their DP4 bushing (steel backed, sintered bronze and teflon coated, looks very much like the stuff that is used in shock eyelets, probably very different to what is used in fork lowers): https://www.ggbearings.com/en/our-products/metal-polymer-bearings/dp4

5/20/2025 5:43pm What are your thoughts on suspension shops “sizing” bushings. I’ve heard some people claim it’s mandatory if you want the fork to work right and I’ve heard others claim that it just makes your fork sloppy and loose.

5/20/2025 2:54pm The new Grip X2 damper is already superb. I’m curious how they could improve on it. Maybe bring the shock retune tech from the Telum over to a drop in fork cartridge?

5/19/2025 2:26pm Plenty of people are out there pedaling dual crown forks around or converting their forks to coil. If it performs well nobody will give two shits what it weighs.

5/13/2025 6:58am The beauty of testing with a spec rotor and pad is that it doesn’t matter which one you use as long as they’re all the same. Even if you use a bad pad, it’s equally bad for all of them. If a Maven with a shitty pad from aliexpress makes 30% more power than a Code with the same shitty...

5/13/2025 6:39am The people who are interested in these test results are the ones changing their pads and rotors! (Edit: although it's pad compounds I'm concerned about, per the original comment) The test wasn't even internally consistent. In some cases they have different OEM compounds within the same brand, meaning all that effort was a waste. Although given this is page 51, I doubt I'm adding anything new here.

5/12/2025 6:26am Pads and rotors are both things easily changed by the end consumer. For the lab data, they should have used either control pads and rotors from someone like Galfer, or used the best available from each OEM. If they wanted to use whatever OEM pads were fitted for subjective on-trail testing that would be fine but you don’t get meaningful...

5/12/2025 5:56am Yeah, there's too many red flags in the data to take it as gospel. I'm not the sort of person who demands a full engineering report to back up every scrap of data before i believe anything, but in this case it just doesn't seem like they had a reliable testing methodology.

5/11/2025 4:20pm We talk about the tech and the rumors until there is new tech and rumors to talk about. I don’t understand what you haters are getting confused about. Thread derailleurs are part of the game, baby.

5/3/2025 12:20pm I bought them from Jenson so I would hope they’re legit. Looking at them, it could also just be a really poor design. Maybe I’m feeling when the big cutout passes through the pads.

5/3/2025 6:10am Her RT-66 rotors were stamped like that. I figured that was the problem and that their nice machined XT RT-800 rotors would be fine. I guess that might not be the case.

5/2/2025 8:32pm I have both Mavens and T4V4’s. The Hopes are good, but absolutely not worth an extra $200. I’d actually say that the Mavens are better brakes IF you can get them to behave. The Hopes are kinda vague feeling.

5/2/2025 6:56pm Are Shimano rotors just garbage now? I put some RT-66’s on my GFs bike a while back and the flatness was so bad the levers pulsed like the bike had ABS. I attributed it to them being cheap rotors. I just put some new XT brakes and rotors on my bike (MT-8120 with RT-MT800) and they pulse under braking too...

5/1/2025 1:16pm Looks like the part is machined but it really doubt it's cast - works for lower on rsu forks, wouldn't work for the crown and steerer. And with Intend sales numbers die casting anything (to get a decent casting quality) is a no go. Better to just start off with a block of aluminium. As for threaded crown race, no way are you putting enough axial force on that thread to make it work better than a pressed in interference fit that we have these days...

4/23/2025 7:42am Those starting and ending leverage ratio numbers don’t match the numbers Transition published for the bike. The Transition numbers give you more like 33%.
