I have A4’s and T4V4’s on my trail and enduro/dh race bike respectively, along with a set of Kahas in my parts bin. With the same pads (same compound different shape) and rotors the T4V4’s make more power with less lever force, it’s a pretty noticeable difference over long sustained and steep descents. Nod to the T4V4 for the short...
Yep, that’s a different shock with different internal architecture and has different pressure requirements. New shock uses the new bladder pressure range. Older shocks will cavitate at 120psi and are to be set to 170-200psi. https://tech.dvosuspension.com/tuning/jade/bladder/ Also look at the shock in the picture that’s being discussed, bladder pressure sticker can be seen, it’s the 170-200 range.

6-4 here plus3 ape, and while I was gona mention that this is the wrong thread, I’d also like to mention that the geometry outliers are also hunting new bike geo to constantly find “that thing” that they’ve been missing for a while, mostly for me and I think S666 it’s a cockpit we can move around in and still control the bike. Outliers? Yes. Buyers? Also yes. FWIW: the answer is currently , NORCO.

I never said they were outdated, I said their reach’s are small compared to the rest of the world for the stack, which is a true statement, their large is 474 reach in the middle setting with a 638mm stack, the Xl v10 which of buddy of mine had does not feel like a big bike, ride it and an...
lol kinda, 6’6” wingspan. Even on my Madonna I feel like I’m cramped. A buddy of mine had the new v10 in an XL and when I sat on it, I felt like it wasn’t big enough. Was going to get an XL Summum, but swayed by the new Vessel and am working with Jack to come up with some...
Not at all, especially with a 637mm stack. I already run 35mm rise bars on a 660 stack bike to get the bars to a point when I’m not in a stupid low squat when. My S5 stumpy has 495mm reach with 63.5ha and a taller stack. 1300mm wheelbase, that’s shorter than my stumpy and that’s not even an enduro...

It is beyond stupid that SC doesn't do mullet for the V10 in an XL. On what are already small bikes to begin with, compared to some of the other DH sleds out there, not having MX on a XL is crazy. I really wanted to build up a V10 but at my height (6'2") there is no way I...

If you don't know what pads you're running, I would highly recommend checking. Resin pads are super common on budget brakes and on budget bikes. Here's a quick guide for your 4-piston Deore brakes, because Shimano's naming and numbering system is mega confusing: Metallic compound brake pads for Shimano BR-M6120 (what you want): D02S ( un-finned, non-Icetech) Resin compound brake pads for Shimano BR-M6120 (these suck, and I suspect you may have these on your brakes, as they're common on budget bikes and brakes): D03S ( un-finned, non-Icetech) According to Shimano, you can't run Icetech finned pads on a Deore...

Some brands do. I haven't had that experience yet. It's relevant to mention that most brands want their product's review published as soon as possible to coincide with the launch of the product, ideally on the same day. If it needs to be a long-term test, then the preference would be to have that long-term review published as early as possible, to maximize interest in the product during it's retail lifetime (aka before the next update, which will necessitate another round of reviews). So the review cycle of a product typically happens all at once, with most media companies doing...

Do you have access to a 3d printer? If so I would really recommend printing out some of the tools that they have designed for piston massaging and caliper centering. Maybe if there is enough interest I can print some of these parts and sell them to cover the cost of the resin and shipping. They are worth it in...
This is a follow up to a reply from @TEAMROBOT in a comment about the new RS shocks, because it relates to the pressure post above. The top plot is a recent super deluxe (theres a few variations on the tunes, coil and air, high flow or not high flow piston but they have similar trends) set to fully closed, middle and fully open. In the firmer settings you can see how the force builds until the base valve opens and the line flattens off. In the bottom line there is no distinct knee which means we can assume it...

Yeah I often do the same if I need a more accurate measurement and not sure of the pressure change in the exact shock. Usually forks and shocks all change similar amounts but it you're testing something significantly different then its a good way to do it

Ok here is the first example of pressures inside the shock and what changes when you tune the base valve VS changing the main piston. The first picture is the compression damping of the 2 different arrangements - Both are quite firm tunes, that are similar-ish in overall damping rate. The blue line has a firm tune on the main piston with a softer base valve and lots of free bleed and the turquoise line has a firmer base valve and moderately stiff main piston. This is a pretty extreme case but it shows the best difference in what happens...

There's probably a few reasons - A full size schraeder valve will reduce frame clearance or IFP volume, and both are usually at a premium already. Picture below is a DVO with full size schrader, vs a Fox X2 cap The sunken schraeder design like rockshox and new fox shocks is actually a standard part - its the same thread as inside a regular schraeder and is also ubiquitous in the HVAC industry. So the adapter is easy to find is fine to use with a standard shock pump I like the pellet sealing systems, it does seem to give...

For a while, half the people I rode with were on one Forbidden model or another, and honestly, those frames have some of the worst QC and overall design execution I’ve seen in that price range. Unless it’s the bike’s very first ride, they creek like crazy, and the suspension pivot hardware is borderline laughable. A buddy of mine—who posts...

Yep, completely understand. I wasn't trying to refute your line of thinking in anyway, just wanted to walk through the steps of working it out. Its a shame when good products are marred by small details that ultimately keep them from being as great as they could be. I like you and I am sure many others want to know...
