This is the day I've been waiting for, too bad I love my mezzer and have literally no reason to upgrade. Some owners of current gen forks have experienced fit and finish issues with the o rings on the air spring side, sometimes needing to swap for a different size on a couple seals to reduce stiction. Manitou probably wants to guarantee that the air spring will work more effectively for a broader range of climates and users. The IRT system does add an additional seal and opportunity for stiction compared to a mainstream air spring. Air backed bladder is...

It sounds like they're addressing a lot of the issues I have with my Mezzer specifically the thicker stanchion tubes, but man I don't like the mechanical spring as a negetive spring if that is what it is.

I'm reading that as the piston being connected to the shaft via a spring, similar in effect to the buttercups on RS forks

I had heard rumors they were going USD on the v2, guess those weren't true. Still, sounds like some changes to the air spring (spring backed? is this like DVO / SR Suntour's spring negative they used to use?) and damper (wtf is air backed bladder?). Love the polished crown, though. The prototypes were fully polished and looked awesome, cool...

I just had to do it on a new set of Code Silver Stealths.

I agree with the general point being made and I think it's most evident on suspension products, which have a more frequent release cycle and magically something users complained about with the previous iteration gets addressed directly, when there was no mention of it before. The Maven subject though is a weird one. Most reviewers noted the power as being...

I've done similar procedures to brakes since forever - sram guide, shimano saint, most formulas. People have always moaned about different brakes but its just a case of knowing all the methods of making them work well. I guess people learn a certain way of working on brakes, which has worked fine up until they encounter something different like the maven and all of a sudden they struggle. I see similar things with wheel building, hubs, suspension and drive trains where they only learned one generic way to work on a part, instead of understanding how they actually function

This doesn't match my experiences. I tried both air and coil shocks on my Murmur and preferred the coil by a very wide margin. It felt absolutely horrible on air for me. I had 0 issues with bottoming out on rocky sections and pretty much the only time I got close was on drops to flat. Even then it wasn't...

I bought a tuned Ohlins coil when I bought my Starling. It was fantastic. I must have bottomed it at some point because of some reckless drops/jumps, but I couldn't tell. Might be worth contacting them. I'm always on the verge of buying another.

The Murmur has a rising rate (anti-progressive) and riders much better than any of us ride it with this coil shock, which to my knowlege has no HBO nor a progressive coil. The Yeti Switch Infiinty bikes all had/have progression less than 20% and they ride amazing. I know Mr. Cascade thinks anything with less than WC level progression is unridable, but I actually like less progression on a short travel bike. Keep it firm so you have something to push against and preserve geometry.

Transitions are horrible about eating bearings. When I was riding my Sentinel and Smuggler 5-6 times a week, I was finding seized bearings almost once a month. Every one of their bikes I've ever worked on post-SBG era had seized bearings within a year from the factory. Not a little gritty, flat out seized. The bearings in my gen1 Sentinel...

On suspension setup, the default tends to be "my hands hurt, make softer", which can be an issue, but suspension that moves too much too quickly can be just as much, if not more, of a problem. If you are going off features and having to fight the bike to stay into position, this will force you to put more...

Having browsed every item they have in the auction (tempted to buy myself the contents of a room for $30) I'm not sure I see millions of dollars worth of stock there and the entirety of their IP was a convoluted suspension design to avoid paying Horst link royalties. Lowball 'em! That said if you need someone on the ground in BC, I'm in.

I found I had to size down on gloves to avoid them bunching up like you mention. This might just be a hand anatomy thing, but I use fairly thin gloves and size down until I find a size where it's not an issue. You don't want them so tight they are putting pressure or compressing your hand, but if...

After years of dealing with hand pain, carpel tunnel and forearm fatigue the ultimate solution was an office job. I had previously worked as an arborist and a carpenter. The constant vibration and hand clenching/squeezing followed by riding never gave enough recovery time. I tried lots of things, ultimately it was an over use issue, poor internal structure (lots of tight tendons, muscle in a small area). I stretched, iced, iboprofein, acupuncture, taped, everything but enough rest. The push button of electric shifting helped as cable throw on a mechanical shifter engages your thumb quite a bit. I am really...
