More likely this would be spec'd on commuter/touring side of the market rather than performance mtbs.

Are you serious? This is pushing cancel culture to whole new level if so. You may not like him, but unless he is breaking the rules of forum he has every right to post here just like you and me. If he bothers you so much just use the ignore function.

That's an awfully confident statement from someone with little or no experience operating a company with large scale outsourced production, overseas or domestic. Care to share a factual example? Also what and who is a 'marketing type brand?' Last I checked the bike industry is collection of honest brands, riders, and designers trying their best to make products of value or improve the experience and enjoyment of other cyclists. Of course they also have to market and advertise if they want to stay in business, but both realities can coexist. You're the NZ distributer for Hayes/Manitou and operate a suspension...

The soft undercurrent of a few of these post seems to imply anything made in Asia or engineered by Asians is somehow of lower quality. Engineering really has nothing to do with nationality or ethnicity. You can find high and low quality products everywhere in the world. Quality is a reflection of the decisions made by the brand not the the citizenship or location of the engineers. If you are manufacturing at scale at some point you'll need to work with a factory and their engineers. And you'd have a hard time finding a greater concentration of institutional knowledge and...

If Transition is a catalogue brand then almost every brand is aside from hand-made projects would be by your estimates then. Since when does it matter ultimately if engineering is in house, us based contractors or Taiwanese contractors? Catalogue implies picking a frame from a pre-designed catalog. Not having a bespoken frame made and engineered for you. Particularly frames like the Spur, which catalogue did they pick that from?

Saying a company isn’t core because Is doesn’t employ a specialist engineer that they’d only need maybe 20% of a FTE role is like Fugazi wasn’t core because they didn’t have a sound tech.

Bike industry: 32" might make sense for tall people! Also the bike industry: Lots of small and medium 32" frames, no XXL frames.

I mean…people drive ridiculous lifted trucks but I’m still going to judge the shit out of you. I’ll ask my therapist what they think about my deep seated hatred for electronic drivetrains. Carry on Vital…sorry. I don’t know where else I can be an opiated a-hole other than under the anonymity of the internet.

We are big on the battery choice thing too. We don't know how or where everyone rides. If we offer the option, you pick what you want. You know you're riding better than we do. Why Aluminum: Call it part timing and part strategic. A big facto was our alloy e-bike was due for an update because of the dated Shimano motor it was using. We also saw a hole in the market as there were rumors of all the Avinox bikes going carbon and very high priced (keep in mind all of this was in play long before the...

Dude is 76. Curious if a Rupert Murdoch type of mentality of not being able to let go (and pushing the previous 2 CEO'S out) or a Disney situation where Bob Eiger was drafted back in because Chapek cooked the company?

I can add a bit more being on the design team for this bike. We can do a better job at calling out the "why" in the short press release. There will be upcoming videos talking about it, but here it is from the design side of things. As bike designers we are constrained by the shape of the motor and battery. We can't change these designs. Riders are wanting bigger batteries (800wh in this bikes case). We also have great demand to fit more shocks, from inline, to the largest enduro and coil shocks. We have to have fork...

Frame only pricing is a psyop to make building your own bike less appealing/practical so you suck it up and buy the full build
