5/19/2026 12:01am I never bothered to do timed testing, but the full 29er always felt more efficient climbing both fire roads or technical trails. Whether it actually was, or I used less energy or whatever…

5/17/2026 11:46pm I was thinking part of it might be getting a longer stroke shock, lower leverage rate, and less progression for the Tallboy genre of bike. But it doesn't look like that's going to be the case. As to the 5010, I've got the MX version and for anything less than full-blown enduro bike territory, it's the most fun bike I've ever owned. I'm not trying maximize mileage or overall speed. If you're riding a bike for fun (and you're not in the big mountains), I'll never understand why more people didn't choose MX trail bikes. Now they are disappearing. Maybe...

5/15/2026 5:36pm Take it easy buddy. I’m not trying to derail the entire conversation but also think it’s allowed to have an aside now and again. There’s plenty of off topic quips that go on in this thread.

5/14/2026 10:41am To me Enduro is the most interesting and all skills encompassing form of mtb racing. It's just that bike racing (other than Tour de France, which I love watching) as a whole is difficult to package and translate to the TV screen for the masses to enjoy.

5/12/2026 2:24pm There is a little predicament in the Persian Gulf that that means the hunger for recycled plastic has skyrocketed. Ironically, the moron-in-chief is going to make electric cars, recycling and efficiency a lot more economically attractive in the land of freedumb.

5/12/2026 2:14pm Interesting to note that with Orbea's AGM, they work with "one person, one vote". So you don't end up with a very small number of people controlling everything if they have more personal shares.

5/10/2026 3:01pm Trust me, Porsche isn't in financial trouble. Like, not even remotely. They just strategically like to appear as if they are, for political- and lobbying reasons. Only slightly related rant: The automotive industry in Germany on a wider scale is once again trying to apply political pressure in order to achieve massive tax cuts, subsidies and erode labour protection laws. It's the same old story; They're feigning financial trouble and mass job insecurity as a bargaining tool for political leverage. And yes, our automotive sector is so large and influential that they can sort-of hold the entire country hostage until...

5/10/2026 3:12am Is it a feature of German/EU consumer law that FAZUA has to maintain a minimum amount of warranty support, or are they just doing their customers a solid?

5/10/2026 2:29am Cartert Bilawchuck is a 16-year old who made his own bike, it ended up looking incredibly polished - and rad ( it was a lock for Vital BOD of course too)! This deep dive edit is full of insights into the trials and tribulations behind pulling off such a project, I figure it should be of interest to the followers of this thread:

5/8/2026 2:52pm I'd be extremely disappointed in the bike industry if they didn't take this opportunity to also introduce a new hub standard. That would be VERY uncharacteristic of them.

5/7/2026 2:22am Why the dissapointment? Without knowing exactly what the bike is, other than hearing info and seeing pics. The ethos/idea of the bike is probably the same? A small travel, super fun and efficient bike - Probably more efficient with this new suspension setup, as well as lighter - But probably also more capable than the previous version. I am stoked to see it, and thinking it could probably be the perfect bike to do it all for me.

5/6/2026 2:51am XD and MS are irrelevant ever since the XS-1270 cassette achieved a 10 tooth cog on an HG driver. Seriously why do any other freehub bodies exist anymore.
