8/19/2026 9:42pm I didn’t pull the battery out of the PX, but at least based on the graphics they provide, the battery makes up the majority of the down tube. So it’s not like the weight is centralized up high - it’s spread out and still mostly placed between your feet with the motor. I didn't find that just because the PX weighs less, that the battery placement had more of an influence on handling/steering. To me, the bike rode like a lightweight e-bike. It took more rider input to move on trail than a pedal bike and under heavy braking I...

8/14/2026 11:56am Most (nearly all) mountain bikes have a maximum weight (mass) limit. They just bury it in the manual and don’t advertise it. I know the previous generation Demo frame had a limit in its manual also.

8/6/2026 1:33pm Damn, end of an era for sure. Best shoes ever but I see why selling shoes for $50 that are more durable than most everything on the market didn't work out. Really is a shame because the 2FO are the only shoes I'd actually pay industry prices for.

8/5/2026 9:26pm Pretty sure they are pulling out of the gravity side, still making road and XC shoes. I just ordered 2 pairs of the 2FO Roost flats, had to order from 2 shops as each only had 1 in my size left. Got a couple partially used pairs at home. They are so much better than Freerider pro for me. Gonna suck having to find a new shoe when my supply runs out.

8/5/2026 9:24pm I noticed this too as I just blew out my second to last pair. I bet they had a glut of product left over from the covid boom and everything was on deep discount. Sucks because those are stellar shoes for an amazing price. Wish I would have bought 4-5 pairs instead of two.

8/4/2026 6:49pm I'm embarrassed to admit it took me way too long to decipher that bearing profile photo. Once understood, it does sound like it would have benefits with that pocket and more lateral stability with the double contact points.

8/3/2026 5:52pm Updated HD6 seems like the most logical step for Ibis considering they've refreshed the Ripmo/Ripley, Ripley SL, and OSO in the past few years. I really hope they take the OSO platform/mentality and apply it to the updated HD7 with the ability to swap wheel sizes and modular dropouts.

8/3/2026 5:48pm Jeff, Location is literally the only thing that matters for small-scale bike shops these days. To really thrive, many, many, things out of the control of a small business owner need to exist. To thrive, once it took building community in your store with group rides, racing, etc. Car-centric culture and social media driven concepts like strava have decimated the traditional ways an enthusiastic entrepreneur could build a business. People are afraid to ride road bikes, people’s egos have been cultivated to cater to Strava Kudos instead of Wednesday Night Worlds… the reality of bike shop ownership has become full...

7/31/2026 12:33am Just do a Tallboy 6 and run forekaster F/R. I’ll be trying that combo this weekend.

7/30/2026 12:55pm I can compare the rekon, magnotal, and trinotal, but not the dubnotal as it's a bit too light for me Just as a heads up, while the trinotal looks reminiscent of the forekaster, it has much shorter knobs. In terms of overall grip/rolling resistance, its forekaster > magnotal > rekon > trinotal. I really like the center tread on the magnotal, but the sideknobs don't quite reach forekaster levels of grip

7/30/2026 12:52pm Was talking to a dealer last weekend after I did a test ride and he said there is a new Shimano motor coming. We agreed it was about time but I neglected to ask when and what companies. Sorry. 🤦♂️

7/30/2026 12:47pm Avinox is far from a monopoly. Looking just at MGUs, I wouldn't underestimate players like Gobao. And, more broadly speaking, I wouldn't count out TQ or Bosch just yet. But SRAM and Shimano have had a duopoly in the drivetrain market for ages, so maybe it's about time some others get some market share too. While I like both companies, I'm certainly not looking at the current landscape and saying "I hope this doesn't mean I'll be able to choose something other than SRAM or Shimano in the future."

7/29/2026 2:03am Not sure how far you have to go back but I have talked about it. I’ve just put in a claim for my 4th M1 motor… to see if I can get one of the quieter ones. 😅 M2s is quiet as is Bosch G5… we’ve seen more Bosch warranties through our shop than Avinox in this last year.

7/27/2026 2:16pm So far all the criticism of Avinox in this thread has been from people that haven’t spent any time on bikes equipped with it. I’ve drafted numerous responses as someone who owns, rides and sells Avinox. But its just not worth it, the cognitive dissonance in here is ridiculous. Some people are just committed to hating it. We have just sold our last Fazua (thankfully) and sell a good of Bosch (it is still our shop preference) too. They are doing things completely legitimately. But they’d be doing a lot better if they didn’t have such a crazy high buy...

7/25/2026 11:37pm just saw this in mojo suspension story. Looks like some kind of dual spring setup for fine tuning/recreating individual dual rate spring curve. I think Dave Garland did something like this for the boxxer quite some years ago.

7/25/2026 12:31am Thank you for the kind words! Glad to hear you enjoyed the podcast and the history bit in particular. Yes, I do think the DJI and Gobao motor gearbox units are going to shake things up, but the gallows humor joke I was making is that no technology change is ever truly complete in the bike world, where there are still new bikes being sold with straight 1 1/8" steerer tubes, friction shifters, 26" wheels, and freewheels. Which is why I predict there will always be derailleurs even on ebikes, either because the ecvt is too expensive for certain price...
