Spotted an interesting DH bike in Verbier today, gearbox, high pivot and the rider was wearing what looks a Whyte Bikes t-shirt

I’ve been riding a 9sp SmartShift Kavenz G2 set up as a 180/180 superenduro or 200/200 park bike for the past few seasons. There’s definitely a learning curve getting used to shifting slightly differently, and being able to shift while coasting and such. When I ride it consistently everything is fine, if I’m coming off a long period of not riding that bike it’ll take me a ride or two to get used to it again. Shifts to harder gears will happen under full power, it’s just easier gears that can be delayed if you don’t let up slightly. I...

I refrained from saying anything about the recent Fox patent because everyone is getting so sensitive. Can’t even make a dick joke without Ballz getting upset.

The riders are NOT earning more due to the WB deal. Overall they are getting the much the same, while as the teams have to fork out more to even be present there will be less riders getting paid moving forward. The UCI is getting paid vastly more, but that increase is NOT translating into more money from the UCI...

They are temperamental brakes, but I mastered them years ago out of necessity. These have been on the shelf for 5+ years but it was nothing to get them going again. The real Prima Donnas of the MTB braking world are TrickStuff. If you can make those work right and stay working, you have reached nirvana.

It will be a long time, if ever, before the DHF truly goes away. The DHF is available in 20, 24, 26, 27.5, and 29” diameters, a couple width options, and endless spec permutations between compound and casing. It would take years, literally, to move all those specs over to the DHX tread.

I made sure to mention as reasons why I didn't watch much, awful race commentary, the fact I end up having to hunt for a working stream every time and that I have zero intention of paying to watch after years of RedBull doing an adequate broadcast for free.

Very cool that the French Nationals results look so well-organized, and, more importantly, that they show each athlete's sponsor, no matter how "big" the sponsor is (I'm guessing that "Riding Family" is a mom / pop). It used to piss me off when I win / podium a race, and the race promoter's would omit my sponsor's (typically a bike shop) name from a results page--especially when...position 9 would have their sponsor listed because it was more important (a bike brand or something cooler than a bike shop). Well done, France.

Subaru uses a straight CVT with no additional gearing with all 'gear changes' being simulated. The eCVT you're talking about is Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hybrid_Synergy_Drive
