Name a more annoying sound than an American complaining about ebikes. Honestly, we've all heard your opinions before. We know you have them. I don't really like or want an ebike either but there are 12,000,000 whingy comments online about how you're too pure or too dedicated or too fit or too angry at unskilled riders and you're mad about it. We don't need any more. Talk about the market or discontinuation of normal bikes, sure, but complaining about being passed on a climb track or peoples ass cracks is tiring af at this point. You've been yelling about it...

because the numbers are wrong, it was 52.5% ebikes and 47.3% bicycles that were sold in 2025 in germany. in the mtb segment, it was 793500 emtb to 52500 mtb. source: https://www.ziv-zweirad.de/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Marktdaten-Fahrra…

you're just late to the party, that's all I'm just back from 2 weeks in finale ligure, i'd say on each shuttle at least half of the bikes on the trailer had a motor

If anyone doesnt understand this bike I dont blame him, neither did I. But after spending few days in a Sud Tyrol town, through which runs a long distance cycle path that connects Northern Italy and Germany my perception changed big time: I only used said cycle path to link different trails for few km at the time but I'd encounter hundreds of elder people riding such bikes. It was eye opening and I realized there exist bike markets I had no idea about...

This is why European venues have the upper hand through local government subsidising tourism projects. Nobody knew about Loudenvielle 15 years ago, then they put the gondola linking the pretty village by the lake to the ski resort up above and developed a trail network mainly below the snow line. This takes years and a sustained effort to make destinations tourist honeypots.

How organizers still approach elite sports events as standalone products instead of marketing assets still blows my mind. In most cases, a World Cup weekend will never generate positive revenue if you only look at the direct cashflow during the event itself. The picture changes once you factor in media coverage, long term tourism, bike sales, brand image, destination marketing and overall communication value. A World Cup should be part of a bigger strategy and not treated as a one weekend business case. If a region has no long term MTB vision, no plans to grow the scene, infrastructure or...

Were you screaming from the rafters for the juniors to be the last one down on the hill last year or have you always been a hypocrite? I, for one, like watching bikes going down hill. I'm not particularly picky about much else.

It cannot be overstated how huge the women getting top billing in Leogang is. I just watched Vali’s YouTube from Loudenvielle and they’ve absolutely nailed it. I hope she can stay happy and overcome what must be insane pressure to be the last rider to drop on the day. Holy shit!

You are correct, thanks for making mention before I could catch up in this thread. On longer climbs I would take the chain off but most times I just wouldn't care to. The bigger problem was the chain length in my largest rear cog when using the lower guide, only a problem during climbing though. The system was great while descending. But I just run the ochain now instead of the lower guide because it's manages the chain whipping and is less faff.
