The Murmur has a rising rate (anti-progressive) and riders much better than any of us ride it with this coil shock, which to my knowlege has no HBO nor a progressive coil. The Yeti Switch Infiinty bikes all had/have progression less than 20% and they ride amazing. I know Mr. Cascade thinks anything with less than WC level progression is unridable, but I actually like less progression on a short travel bike. Keep it firm so you have something to push against and preserve geometry.

You have to remember the true target market of this bike....if you really need that much extra resistance then a Tallboy is the wrong bike for you, full stop. The forum guys wanting to run a coil shock are a niche of a niche type of mountain biker so they aren't going to design the bike with that in mind. I also don't think its that far off, and they maybe chose to ship it with that shock spec so people can easily remove the spacers if that need to. And plenty of people have run coil shocks in bikes...

Of all the reviews I have seen online, nobody is complaining about the progression or bottoming out all the time. And if JKW didn't immediately fill it with volume spacers, then I think there is some overreaction here.

I'd disagree. Have a Chisel and a Fourstroke LT in the garage, and the Chisel feels undergunned even next to that. I love the frame, no issue with it and I'll be keeping it the season, but it's fairly linear, and feels like it has a bit of a kinematic hump to get past before you get the suspension moving. It's a fairly firm, fairly upright, fairly steep bike. The rear end of the bike itself is also fairly flexy, and I'm only 150lbs. Again, love mine, but I wouldn't put it in the downcountry discussion. On the same note...

Jeff Kendalweed said the Santa Cruz rep brought volume reducers for him but he was happy with whatever’s in there stock, so I wouldn’t assume Santa Cruz fucked up until we get some more reviews/users actually saying they have issues. The price does make the bike a hard sell when there are so many cheaper 4 bar bikes that ride...
How does the weight difference of the bikes impact what you are saying, if at all? If I am not mistaken (I'm not a moto person), your typical moto is at least 5-6 times heavier than your typical mountain bike. Does this not change the physics of what you are saying? I'm mainly thinking that on a rough section of track, compared to a mountain bike, a moto will have a higher inertia creating a solid platform you can stabilise yourself against.

Might be one in the minority here, but I always like having a bit narrower field of view for videos like this. Having the nearly 180 degree vertical fov and extreme fish eye affect because of it is off putting to me, and part of the reason I hate 360 degree cameras being used for pov shots. Great riding and love the follow cam for the stage though!

Not enough data points yet to determine if this is good setup or not. Reece's 2025 WC finishes: 6 missed finals and 22nd place average for the 3 finals he made. His best result came from Lake Placid, a new track that all riders had to puzzle over. What we could infer, is that Reece is a quick learner and can dissect new tracks better than many racers but that, eventually when all the racers catch up and learn the track, his avg race speed is still slower than the top 20. I'm stoked to see the puzzling on the...

But the recyclability factor is only a huge bonus if it's easily done. I was under the impression it's anything but. Sure it would help reduce manufacturing wastage at source but in terms of a closed loop consumer recycle system I think the claims are a bit far reaching, no?

If you want to do it with robotics you have to scale to numbers which are hard to achieve in the MTB realm. I believe the thermoplastic variant tends to be heavier than thermoset resin? Recyclability of thermoplastic is rather theoretical atm, are there examples where there's a working process?

Anyone else notice Reese pedaling an impossibly low gear after he finished the race? Did his gearbox spaz out or drop his belt?

Along with not being called out for causing any incidents (so far), I mean the dude has a single finger for braking and beat hardtail guy by ~90 seconds. The rider that took the longest to cross the line was... Dak. As far as I know he caused no incidents to other riders all weekend. It seems that the true issue causing problems in this scenario wasn't necessarily the bike type, how many fingers you have, or how many times you crashed... More so what resides between the ears. And how you can use it to safely navigate a course...

Well he is the champ for his country and has an actual physical disability verses just a guy pulling a bit of a “look at me”. Again I’m not even mad the hardtail guy is there. I just think he should’ve borrowed a buddy’s bike and gave it an actual go.

I'm not going to cast too much shade on Hardtail Bro. I will, however, cast plenty on the mixed messaging and policies of WBD/UCI. Their implied goal has been to raise the professionalism and elite nature of the sport. Simultaneously, they've allowed a racer to use a hardtail to compete. This is inconsistent with the way they're supposedly pushing the sport. I also will cast a little shade on our community. We've bemoaned the loss of grassroots accessibility to the World Cups while also bashing hardtail dude, who represents just such grassroots privateerism. Dude managed to navigate the red tape...
