5/12/2026 2:38pm Interesting to note that with Orbea's AGM, they work with "one person, one vote". So you don't end up with a very small number of people controlling everything if they have more personal shares.

5 hours ago That still doesn't explain why a design company that specializes in having bike frames built and assembled overseas has taken on the long term r&d costs of making a motor and battery system. Or how that play works out on the second go-around in a market utterly dominated by two incumbents, having already gone bankrupt once trying this. Or how...

5/12/2026 11:27am The lack of headset routing is not the reason those cables look like shit. They all look a foot too long.

6 hours ago Surely it would have been easier for Rocky Mountain to just give Avinox their lunch money. Of all the "what are you DOING?" MTB companies out there, Rocky's desire to do this all themselves and do it weird just doesn't make any sense to me. Can our resident financial guru explain what financial sorcery they are working with here that...

6 hours ago I stocked my home workshop with a lifetime supply of cables, crimps and ferrules plus hose, olives, banjos and barbs for multiple brands for less than I paid for my last 'Shimano' replacement line and banjo from my LBS, took about 10 days to arrive. Wouldn't even need to be that responsible to make it work, just slightly more responsible...

5/8/2026 3:35pm I'd be extremely disappointed in the bike industry if they didn't take this opportunity to also introduce a new hub standard. That would be VERY uncharacteristic of them.

5/8/2026 9:40am Re: "Will we see any of the mega brands move to Avinox mid-term?" I agree that these price cuts are a direct consequence of Avinox eating everybody's lunch. But I don't think we'll see big brands starting to use Avinox, for compliance reasons. The one thing that draws consumers towards Avinox (- high power output) is basically also the reason why the big brands don't use them. If other electric motor OEMs like Bosch or Brose wanted to make, say, a 4.000 watt motor in an e-bike form factor, they absolutely could. I'm told there's nothing holding them back from...

5/7/2026 10:59am Backwards-compatibility and allowing easy future upgrades by keeping motor mounts standardized is such a basic, consumer-friendly feature that no MTB-centric company would even consider it. Would be even more of a struggle to shift Levo 4s if you could just put the new motor in the old one. DJI isn't playing in that league or even playing the same sport...

5/6/2026 9:32am To have any sort of crash in a world cup final in 2026 and still podium is bonkers. On a 2:40 track too. I can understand that Asa winning his debut is massive news and the story of this round but Amaury on that sort of pace has scrambled my brain, it really shouldn't be possible to do that. Adjustable...

5/6/2026 9:23am The unlocking market has been a thing since e-bikes were a thing. Strangely seems a lot less popular on this side of the pond but you can buy a speed-limit delimiter for every single system out there already.

5/1/2026 9:14am The 8-hour training actually makes perfect sense if you think about it. If you’re going to force a 12-year-old to commute electrically assisted/throttled in a 6-inch painted gutter next to 5,000lb distracted SUVs going 50mph, they probably need Stroad-warrior level tactical training. Why build a protected bike path for $1M when you can just blame the kids for not having a Ebike Safety Certificate while they dodge F-150s?

4/30/2026 11:28am UPS Canada charges brokerage fees based on the rate/level of service you choose. If you use Standard shipping you will pay a processing fee per-line-item that is assessed for duties / taxes. If you pay for Expedited or Express they charge a flat fee to assess the entire shipment. If you're importing more than one item is almost always worth...

4/30/2026 9:30am Just a warning relative to the credit scores / general life harassment field; FedEx will 100% send you to collections if you don't pay a customs / tariff bill. They have already paid those fees on your behalf and you agreed to pay them back when you chose to use them as your customs broker. As a general "this is...

4/28/2026 10:02am First generation Avinox bikes were already a foot-throttle compared to everything else on the market. 1000w+ of output with less than 150w of input is no longer a mountain bike in any meaningful way. Doing a sustained 32km/hr up the Blackcomb access road shouldn't be possible without pro-Tour legs and lungs on you. These bikes are going to be an...
