rgard Added a reply to Crankworx 2026
6/16/2026 11:24am Crazy that Red Bull no longer wants their name associated with an event that raises important, totally relevant questions like; Who advances to the Slopestyle Super League Playoffs at Crankworx SilverStar (August 6–9) Who earns a bye and goes straight to the Slopestyle Super League Finals at Crankworx Mont-Sainte-Anne (September 3–7) Whose Slopestyle Super League season ends here I know...

6/11/2026 3:22pm Gotta be a different surface coating on standard aluminum, my wild speculation is WS2/tungsten disulphide based coating.

6/8/2026 10:17am The Alpinestars system has been mandatory equipment for motorcycle rally raid (Dakar etc) for a few years now and to my knowledge nobody has yet had an issue with it just 'going off' on a false positive, "I was just swapping out at 100mph in the sand but was totally going to save it if not for the airbag" scenario...

5/28/2026 10:08am Assuming bike company 2.0 learned anything from what sent bike company 1.0 bankrupt is a bold move https://www.vitalmtb.com/news/press-release/rocky-mountain-launches-new…

5/15/2026 3:50pm Yep, I had a Commencal mini-DH back in the day with the same setup. Thanks for posting the infamous photo, I spent way too long looking for it this morning.

5/13/2026 4:00pm This is a receivership sale, they are legally obliged to sell everything that isn't bolted down for whatever they can get for it. (Being bolted down probably doesn't even exclude it, let's be honest) They've obviously just walked into the Knolly premises, photographed EVERYTHING and set a nominal price for it.

5/13/2026 3:03pm Having browsed every item they have in the auction (tempted to buy myself the contents of a room for $30) I'm not sure I see millions of dollars worth of stock there and the entirety of their IP was a convoluted suspension design to avoid paying Horst link royalties. Lowball 'em! That said if you need someone on the ground...
rgard Added a reply to Should You Reverse Your Stem? - Reece Wilson Setup Analysis
5/13/2026 10:47am I think the "it needs a special frame" part of the equation is, observationally at least correct. Hattie is the smallest on the team and her setup, to my eye looks proportionally the most correct and is also the first time I've seen the RR stem on a bike, including the various test mules on instagram and thought; "Oh, I...

5/12/2026 2:38pm Interesting to note that with Orbea's AGM, they work with "one person, one vote". So you don't end up with a very small number of people controlling everything if they have more personal shares.

5/12/2026 12:02pm That still doesn't explain why a design company that specializes in having bike frames built and assembled overseas has taken on the long term r&d costs of making a motor and battery system. Or how that play works out on the second go-around in a market utterly dominated by two incumbents, having already gone bankrupt once trying this. Or how...

5/12/2026 11:27am The lack of headset routing is not the reason those cables look like shit. They all look a foot too long.

5/12/2026 11:15am Surely it would have been easier for Rocky Mountain to just give Avinox their lunch money. Of all the "what are you DOING?" MTB companies out there, Rocky's desire to do this all themselves and do it weird just doesn't make any sense to me. Can our resident financial guru explain what financial sorcery they are working with here that...

5/12/2026 11:06am I stocked my home workshop with a lifetime supply of cables, crimps and ferrules plus hose, olives, banjos and barbs for multiple brands for less than I paid for my last 'Shimano' replacement line and banjo from my LBS, took about 10 days to arrive. Wouldn't even need to be that responsible to make it work, just slightly more responsible...
