First generation Avinox bikes were already a foot-throttle compared to everything else on the market. 1000w+ of output with less than 150w of input is no longer a mountain bike in any meaningful way. Doing a sustained 32km/hr up the Blackcomb access road shouldn't be possible without pro-Tour legs and lungs on you. These bikes are going to be an...

I get the sentiment of what you're saying... but I would contend that the avinox motors have throttles... you just operate them by moving your feet. 460w of output with 25w of input, 800w of output with 100w of input and max power being delivered at 160w of rider input, is not pedal assist. It is pedal driven throttle assist.

Fortunately as long as the FAA stays worried about boring stuff like payload you'll still be able to pick up one of these bad boys! Safe to say the entire Chinese drone industry has a very different approach to regulation.

Obviously it being a USA based site there's a lot less engagement with what happens in other countries but the UK in particular seems to me the most likely place for full scale regulatory backlash against the direction these bikes are headed. I can only imagine what it's like around some of the major population centres these days having to...

Not to continue beating a dead horse, but conceptually there's a massive difference in parts availability and even what constitute repairs when you're comparing that YZ to a modern ebike. Even at the LBS, there is no repair happening to your ebike. In the context of Bosch and Shimano at least a repair means throwing away the faulty / broken...

I'm just glad the suspension stays fully active while it's breaking, good work on that. Anything else that's breaking or just the suspension?

I've got a couple pairs of Aliexpress glasses. They even have a 100% logo on them although the pictures on the listing don't show it. They're 1:1 knockoffs of real 100% glasses, and come with multiple tinted lenses, including photochromic and clear. Unfortunately I can't find the exact one again, but for less than $10 I just buy a few pairs and don't care whatsoever if they get scratched or broken. I've had them last a couple years each anyway.

+1 to everyone recommending $4 or less cheap ass photo-chromatic knockoffs from sketchy sites. I buy 2 pairs (latest were some POC knockoffs from Ali Express @ $1.92 each), pretend like they're $200 glasses and treat them nice, have the same experience as buying $200 glasses because most of the time they're literally the same thing, and get to spend my $198 savings on things that can't be knocked off on Ali/Temu

I would say these are all large-volume air shocks. An extra sleeve on the outside of the air can allowing a much larger negative spring volume being the visual cue that ties them all together. Vivid is a monotube damper, Ohlins is a twin tube, X2 has been both.

I was going to link you to the service manual but forgot over the years that in hilariously DVO fashion...bruh, we totally spaced on including the 'pressurize the bladder' step in the published service manual. 🤪 From memory it's 150-180psi

Rumors flying on Reddit that Knolly is no more, or at least bankruptcy upcoming. If true… sad day that Reddit beats Vital to a big rumor. https://www.reddit.com/r/mountainbiking/s/X7ho0Uxg8t

The sales tax system in the USA is administered at the state level; so if you buy something at the same sticker price in two different states the price you pay at checkout will be different depending on the state sales tax; the same $100 handlebar might be $105 in California, $110 in New York and $100 even in Nevada...

The bike industry as a whole could have sold more than they did in 2020 and most likely throughout the whole 2021. However, the supply chains simply were not able to cope with the demand. And I completely understand that, for some companies (those that essentially everyone needed parts from) it was impossible to give exact lead times. Their systerm could not scale for that demand and that's why you suddenly heard about lead times of 700-800 days. In reality it could have been 300 or 1000. Simply because no one could accurately scale it up just like that, because...

Commencal have had their media / video / production done in-house for a long time; Leon Perrin who made that video has been there for like 10 years now I believe? In that case it is worth noting as a very different business approach to marketing from just about every other company out there. That's why ALL of the video...

Same thing hotels and Tim Hortons does in BC. Charge people a fee to get a job. Charge them a fee to get a visa. Charge them a fee above and beyond the PR costs and have them work off that amount. Fire them unannounced and stop their PR application so they can’t come back. Really a shame to see it get so much attention in Taiwan and yet it goes on daily here at home.
