Just mtbs? 5th grade through high school: an early 90’s Peugeot Tundra Express. Then a 1995 Cannondale F500, a 1997 Gt Avalanche, a 2000 Rocky Mountain Pipeline. College and a year or so after: 01 Balfa BB7, 03 Rocky Mountain Slayer, 06 Spesh Enduro, 05 Banshee Chaparral, 06Transition Gran Mal. Then I got a job at the big red S...
I’m sure people get popped from time to time, but maybe there are some in mtb with big enough names to have the Lance effect. That dude could juice while pissing in a cup and pass, he had the power, influence, and money to make it happen. I don’t think pro mtb guys are making anywhere close to the money...

Try doing it going flat or uphill and you'll notice how much better the shifting is. For going down I recommend putting the clutch back on.

SRAM is more “innovative” by bringing new shiny things to market much faster than Shimano. But I’ve found over the years SRAM has brought some things to market a little too st at the expense of quality and warranty issues. Shimano on the other hand is slower to adapt and respond, but historically their execution is much better. Their new...
As soon as Roskopp became bff’s and neighbors with Sinyard and joined Spesh as some kind of inside/outside consultant, I kinda had a thought there’d be some note sharing. Don’t remember if Roskopp has a hand in SC anymore but I’d imagine he still has tons of influence.
Yup. The price isn’t “too steep” if Specialized is marketing and easily selling these to people with appropriately deep pockets. It’s entirely likely they don’t have much of a goal to make it affordable for more people if they’re not producing the quantity and can still sell out of them. Pricing people out of the market creates exclusivity, which is...

It’s Sea Otter my dude. It is far less of a race than it is a place to check out new products. I loved the og slalom course, but the dh run has always been trailbike territory, the xc in Fort Ord is legit, but that’s about it. The organizers most likely don’t care about the courses, they care about...
Yoshimura and Renthal ring a bell as the og triple og’s here. Got no problems with auto/moto brands jumping on the bandwagon. But, sometimes their products suck real bad and you’re almost always paying more for that brand name. Can’t wait till Gucci or Luis Vuitton come out with the highest bling at the highest cost with the worst performance...
Problem with SRAM/RS, is they have a history of excellent innovation that they bring to market too quickly without working out the bugs. I have fond memories of the first gen XX brakes. Ultralight seals and internal bladders that got eaten by DOT fluid. Ultralight mag levers that were so porous you literally had to bleed them every day just...

No issues with waterproofing in mechanical systems. Odd how mechanical is still more precise, faster, and cheaper than electric but everyone needs “new tech.”
