I think we’ve all been curious about how it feels to ride something so big. Totally normal thoughts/feelings Smile

Up to a few years ago most size small bikes had longer cs than reach.

If only someone made a linkage that allowed a longer shock to to be run on the Levo and it yielded 170 mm of travel. That would be wild.

Curious what fork you’re comparing to the new Zeb? I believe a primary driver for the new Zeb is more linear as many were unable to use full travel at longer travel on prior generation. Personally I feel I can get full travel on my Zeb charger 3.1 at 180 mm with half a token without it being overly progressive but that is on a full fat eeb. In fact I’m not sold on the whole ‘more linear’ for that reason. May just end up having to use a token or max the ABO

ASTM F2711 came up when I ran an inquiry, different than the ISO 4210. Category designations are separate standard F2043 from what I understand. When I spoke the Trek PM a while back, he said the Slash meets the CAT 5 testing except for the dual crown requirements, which why it was only rated at CAT 4. Please correct anything you find wrong.

There is specific testing in ASTM standards to meet Cat 5 for torsional forces that a DC fork puts on a head tube.

Can’t remember the frame I was working on, but it had aluminum pivot axles with a thru-bolt. The bolt broke, and then it was really hard to get the aluminum pivots out because it was just a round hole where the bolt was. They would’ve been much easier to rotate out of the frame with a hex like you implemented…

That makes a lot of sense, I appreciate that. I have been doing this so long I forget sometimes, honestly. I guerrilla marketed One Ghost Industries for the better part of 10 years and never got any flack for it. Different times now and I know I am a bit out of touch. I also don't have a lot of free time to spend in the forums, which sucks all the way around. Two jobs and a family with two younger kids each with an autoimmune disease (on top of my own health issues) makes it difficult. I also haven't...

Static and dynamic climbing rope also comes to mind. Hanging on the two ropes, loads are the same, as a freebody diagram would suggest. A 40' whiper on a dynamic rope is survivable, maybe even fun. 40' whiper on a static rope is a potentially life ending event, both for you and the rope. Something to be said for slowing down the acceleration over a bit of time.

I believe it's an updated katipo but will be under a new name. Updated geo (fairly middle of the road), mullet compatible flip chip etc.

Personally I don’t think it’s cool when brands post their own stuff here if it’s not being discussed directly. The Cascade guy is great because he weighs in on the conversation but just dropping your stuff here when nobody is talking about it comes across as a bit of a lazy marketing strategy. Post it on instagram and if people think it’s interesting it’ll get picked up. That being said it’s an awesome looking prototype!

I have to admit, the new Sidekick hub has me really interested. Looks like they made a lot of tangible improvements. I wish they had included a sound clip of the hub coasting. Onyx hubs have spoiled me over the years.

This is exactly why suspension on bikes doesn’t work! Springs don’t dissipate energy they just transfer it to the other side! /s

This. The energy dissipated is the same, the time doing it is different. If you have more flex (or more crumple zone), the distance of deceleration is longer. If the starting speed and end speed of this deceleration are the same, the average (and usually peak) deceleration are lower if the duration is longer. That's what gets you on the force front. Peak acceleration. F=m*a.

I've always though Cushcore was missing a good April 1 jab with green trash cans. Or honestly as a real promo most shops would take a green trash bin. #realorfake
