2/13/2026 3:41am You can draw whatever conclusions you'd like from rolling resistance lab data (since we don't generally ride MTB tires on flat steel surfaces), but this article has been linked before in this thread: https://enduro-mtb.com/en/mtb-tire-test-weight-rolling-resistance-punct… It's worth noting the following 4x Schwalbe results for rolling resistance: Tacky Chan ADDIX Soft Super Gravity 29 x 2,40 - 29.3 Watts Albert ADDIX Soft GRAVITY PRO Radial 29 x 2,40 - 36.7 Watts (incorrectly labelled as a 29x2.4, it would have been a 2.5") Tacky Chan ADDIX Ultra Soft Super Gravity 29 x 2,40 - 46.9 Watts Albert ADDIX Ultra Soft GRAVITY PRO Radial...

2/11/2026 11:34am Great review! As a big fan of the damping of the RXF38 m.3 the Push is really an intriguing fork. Sounds like they put a ton of thought and engineering into not getting stuck between spring rates like I was on a Z1 coil recently. Does the warranty transfer to a second owner?

2/11/2026 6:44am This is definitely a thing, although more common among DH racers. There's a sweet spot for the casing feel that riders are looking for. A brand new tire needs a couple runs to soften up and then there are X (varies) number of runs with the casing in that sweet spot before it starts to go away. It's quite common for mechanics to swap out tires after a set amount of runs, long before the tread is gone.

2/11/2026 6:42am Blur and V10 are their best selling non ebikes?! Maybe I'm in a bubble in the northeast US, but I know 4 people who bought a SC bike in the past year and they are all Nomads. And others already owned Bronsons. All the middle aged and old guys around here with Santa Cruz ride Tallboys or Hightowers. Can't remember the last time I saw a Blur, and Nomads are so good in the park that only the hardcore DH racers buy V10s.

2/10/2026 1:44pm @ARonBurgundy Are you guys going to roll out your new stuff (the new casing, that new tread) soon?? Need to get on it! A bunch of the local DH teams are all putting in tire orders for this season. Vee dropped their Radials, and I'm hearing another one of your major competitors is dropping their new casing quite soon. It's Feb 10th, and the spring boom for purchases is starting in a coupe weeks. CC: @schwalbai When are you dropping your other treads in Radial and the new 2:2:2 prototype? You're going to have some stiff (or should I say...

2/10/2026 12:19pm Deviate says they're coming back the 13th or something. Apparel can generally be really tough in bike stores. There's a lot of bike stores that do it really bad. I'd put most bike shops into this category. However, to do it right, there's a big capital, time, and space commitment that most aren't prepared or equipped to deal with. Doing it right means keeping the area tidy and organized, displayed well, tons of sizes and colours in stock, knowing how to sell it personally, and vitally, being willing to sell it below cost to an outlet store whenever things sit...

2/10/2026 12:17pm I can speak to clothing as I run a tiny MTB apparel brand, Abit Gear. The short story is that for USA brands, tariffs are making it a royal PITA and covid saw a glut of inventory that isn't yet cleared. Sure, margins are good on paper, but you have a SKU problem with apparel do to size and color variants, you have to carry a lot of aged inventory, and fight discounting from competitors more than with hard goods. For technical apparel, China is, by far, the best quality. Most of the technical apparel factories are in China. They...

2/10/2026 9:34am Did I read correctly somewhere on the Vital forums someone mentioned that Specialized was winding down their clothing division? I think it was in the context of Loic and Finn riding Alpinestars clothing this season. Seems like the margins on the clothing are high and this would be a relatively easy place to make some money for them. On another...

2/6/2026 7:49pm It's a no-brainer, while I'm sure FTW can pump out a fair number of bikes, the popularity of Frameworks probably means it would suck up his entire production schedule so I would guess its best for both parties to do it this way. Along with the new carbon rear end, (which again I would assume is made close by in Asia) they can now build a more advanced frame, in higher numbers, with shorter lead times at a more competitive price. So its win-win and I'm stoked they have grown this far that they needed to scale production like that!

2/6/2026 4:00pm Sort of off topic, but something I’ve been pondering: Has anyone developed a good service writing platform similar to what a lot of car mechanics in the US are using now that basically texts you a link to all the different issues they’ve found, item by item, with recommended next steps and costs. Then you just approve each line item that you want to have done? A lot of the garages will even include videos/pictures that show the issue in action to demonstrate the “need.” One garage I use also flags items as red, yellow, green, letting you know level...

2/6/2026 3:59pm Yeah communication is key. Many shops are smaller crews but having a competent service writer would be huge for most shops. I always found that taking the time to measure chain wear/rotor thickness/pad thickness in front of customers did a few things. 1. It shows you are measuring and not guessing which helps build trust 2. It gives you the time to explain why these things wear and how they affect performance, which again helps build trust. If a customer sees you do a a check over I always found they are more likely to trust your assessments in the...

2/6/2026 3:59pm Yeah, those $10k bike owners can be total cheapskates. At the same time, I worked on a lot of bikes that should have been tossed in the bin, but for the owners the bike was how they made a living, whether it be basic transportation, collecting cans, drug mule, whatever. Doing $300 service work on a $150 bike seemed wrong, but as long as we told people how much the work was going to cost, they would usually go for it. As for low-end Shimano parts, we drew the line at Tourney. We also kept a bunch of older but...
