8/3/2026 4:18am Shoutout to a guy from Ridemonkey who saw my thread here and offered up a set of HT X3s for beer+shipping from when he went through this process himself. And I found a cheap-ish pair of BNIB OneUps on PB to try also. I should be able to get to a setup I can live with between those two and a variety of cleats. The Fox Union shoes I got on sale from Jenson fit nicely like I remember, especially with my own insoles to take up some of the volume. I'm looking forward to learning something new. I'll probably...

8/2/2026 1:02am I've tried crankbrothers, hope, HT, time and oneups. Gave shimano stuff a miss due to the whole ice thing. HT easily my favorite, entry and exit is great. I just ordered another set so all my bikes have these now. CB, as someone said above best for conditions that clog your pedals. CB also feel the most like flats, but...

8/1/2026 3:23am I just got back from a week long trip to whistler where due to some family issues (sick pet) and friends cancelling last minute, I was mostly riding alone. I had a buddy join me for a few hours on 2 days, but other than that, I was left alone with my mediocre riding skills and my thoughts. With this much time alone, you tend to develop an inner monologue of Hot Takes... and since I had no one to share these with, I am coming here to plop them down. I also don't use social media because of a...

7/24/2026 1:22am I just bleed them with brand new pads, I've never used a spacer. I use a one man bleeder kit for cars too, you don't need a huge volume of fluid, but having the reservoir to catch it etc is handy. If you have it going up from the bleed, once the bubbles are clear of the caliper you can...

7/13/2026 1:05pm Thanks for the info. I was too fearful of being disappointed with this aspect and the Flash 38 is like half a pound heavier, so I went with the G2 Mezzer LT instead with all of the stiffness but enjoy reading about ya'lls real world experiences. Thanks again!

7/12/2026 9:25pm Finally got time on my 38 flash from my 35. Yep, there's a good difference in torsional stiffness. Wonderful. Steering is more precise and direct and whilst I didn't specifically test for brake induced torsional load I'm going to assume that's not such a thing anymore. Still really rate the 35, you can't go wrong with either tbh.

5/13/2026 2:05am Long time lurker, first time poster here. For some background I’m an aerospace composites engineer and spent several years in Advanced Product Development with an emphasis on environmentally friendly materials. There’s so much to get into on this topic and if folks are interested I’d love to start a dedicated thread on materials and environmental impacts. The TLDR is, carbon fiber as a green product on its own is a fallacy. The raw fiber production may result in a certain level of carbon sequestering, but the process is still so energy intensive I wouldn’t call it an environmental positive. As...

5/13/2026 2:02am Could the Rocky bike just be stuff they already had the ball rolling on before their financial troubles a couple years ago. Now they are in a better money spot but still have a bunch of 2-3 year frames/motor packages they now need to get rid of first before bringing new designs to market, hence the "out of date" package they selling as a new release here? Just thinking about it as a damned if you do and damned if you dont type situation.

5/6/2026 4:55pm my 2 cents after spending some time on the bike is that I really want to spend more time on the bike. A couple anecdotes here: I was surprised at how well it pedalled and the lack of heft that I was expecting after looking at it. After giving it back for a month I had to film on it with no time to get familiar again. First trail was a rapid North Van classic that I have ridden a bunch and I was immediately sending it. It was extremely poppy while still being planted, able to pull for all...

4/26/2026 12:50am Most of you probably won't like hearing this. I certainly didn't. Earlier this week I had a chat with a guy who works in a product management role for Ralf Bohle GmbH, which is the owner of the Schwalbe tire brand. Mainly I asked a bunch of XC racing related questions, about compounds, casings, radial ply, rolling resistance testing, wheter we'll ever see the speediest XC casing with a black sidewall and why they felt they needed to change their naming scheme for casings and compounds. The gist of it is that they are hard at work behind the scenes...

4/15/2026 12:16am That makes a lot of sense, I appreciate that. I have been doing this so long I forget sometimes, honestly. I guerrilla marketed One Ghost Industries for the better part of 10 years and never got any flack for it. Different times now and I know I am a bit out of touch. I also don't have a lot of free time to spend in the forums, which sucks all the way around. Two jobs and a family with two younger kids each with an autoimmune disease (on top of my own health issues) makes it difficult. I also haven't...

4/8/2026 12:08am I've tried both, the new damper just gives me more confidence to introduce Lsc without the harshness the previous Gen had in that same scenario. Have a flash @100kg run 101psi 5click for steep, 6 for a little more comfort. I'd love to get the old damper custom tuned with a dyno mind you 🤷
