I think post-covid the endemic companies need to be looking over their shoulder. My understanding is that as there was overstock in shops and distributers factories in Asia have been looking to do more of the sales in NA and Europe themselves. DJI launched Avinox and Amflow and are doing numbers. If they can hit the price point due to...

I saw it mentioned elsewhere by a brand representative that the major growth area was in their adventure moto gear. It's all relatively high ticket, and the one segment of moto that is very strong these days.

It seems like Leatt has gotten past over stock issues? 2024 net loss to 2025 net income. Does this meaning the protection and apparel space is starting to have less aged inventory and back to a healthier state? Interesting as it seems like this is coming from sales to distributers and not D2C based on the BR article. I rarely...

Unfortunately I'm an idiot, so I'll answer your question even if it is sarcastic. I found a known value that's easy to measure, the rear brake rotor. I set it to 203mm (as mentioned in a bike check from my memory) 16.2cm = 6.377 inch, rounded up however the app used rounds things and also not a perfect angle. Closest match for phone size would be a Iphone 16/17 pro max at 16.3 cm or a google pixel 9/10 at 6.3 inches. I'm going to go with the iphone 16/17 pro max. I should touch grass. I'm also either going...

The sarcastic Charlie response is that Markus continues to find new and creative ways to get his face in front of people's eyeballs. I would imagine the measured Jeff Brines response is that, nevertheless, here we are talking about Markus and YT again.

Yeah communication is key. Many shops are smaller crews but having a competent service writer would be huge for most shops. I always found that taking the time to measure chain wear/rotor thickness/pad thickness in front of customers did a few things. 1. It shows you are measuring and not guessing which helps build trust 2. It gives you the...

When I refer to "manpower" I am talking about our in-house capacity. We manufacture/assemble our posts in Taiwan in our own facilities with our own team of now 13 people. That means every single post is assembled by ourselves, not, as it is otherwise often the case, by a "partner"/factory/assembler who is contracted to do all the sourcing, manufacturing, assembly to get the product ready in the box to sell. We draw every single part, source the suppliers, have them made, get them to us and then put everything together in our own facilities with our own machines. No post...

If you want to know the defnition of what a forecast is, I cna try to explain in my own words (that is how we work with forecasts and does not need to apply for others): For starters, we are an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) for many brands. That means that companies buy our products to put them on their complete bikes. Usually, before the beginning of a new year or model year, our customers will provide us with an estimate of their complete demand for a certain period of time. This estimate is called a forecast. This forecast can...

Forecasting in any industry is a mixture of science and voodoo (I'm a forecaster in a completely different industry). At its best it's an educated guess, at it's worst it's a random dart on the board. There's often so many moving parts that the human mind truely struggles to comprehend the range of outcomes and so tends to default to bias and hubris. The seminal books on this are things like "Thinking fast and slow"

I think Jeff's take from the pod regarding YT is a good lens to view this situation. You don't have to like the brand or Markus. However, they are back in the game and will be making bikes. Therefore, it would seem in regards to the purpose of this thread, looking at how they might operate/ what their plans are/...

There is also a solid chance that they had already ordered the bikes, and a factory already had these assembled waiting for payment. To smooth over relationships with past vendors they are selling these bikes cheap to generate some cash flow and pay for new models. Seems like something similar happened with Kona's BOGO sale, and Carbonada selling old nukeproof...

I think we're talking about different things. Absolutely, older bikes will keep going and any shop worth going to will be able to keep either of those bikes going for a long time. I regularly see well cared for 40+ year old bikes still going strong. I'm more leaning into critical failure of legacy parts. If your AC1 (Sick by the way) has a chain stay fail, its done. Unless you can coax one out of someone's basement, its a wall hanger. Or if that Campy group has a shifter fail, parts are now very hard to come by even...

Yeah, trying to understand ALSO as an entry into the recreational e-bike market is missing the entire picture. They’re working on the micro-mobility market and trying to do so without the baggage of the traditional recreational cycling product lens. The TM-B is entirely pedal-by-wire: the cranks don’t connect to the rear wheel mechanically, they connect to a generator/throttle. This means you’re probably pretty hosed if you run out of battery, but the given range estimate is 60-100mi because that design allows them to have regenerative braking w/ programmatic blending between the motor and the hydraulic brakes. It’ll do up to...

Is it OE's selling to brands like this? Or is it factories selling off overstock they have left sitting around? My guess would be the latter I highly doubt Sram/RS is selling directly to these brands.
