5/25/2026 2:04pm Not in NA Seth. Margin varies product to product, including within a model line of bikes. It's true that the bigger your order/booking, the more discount you get, but you might get 35% on an entry level hardtail and 18% on a top of the line ride.

5/21/2026 4:28pm I recently read an article by the enduro mag. They made a survey and found out that 70% of their readers that took part in the survey never changed their rebound from what the bike came with. The amount of people riding bikes that dont have a clue about basic setup is very high. For them, something like the progression rate is not relevant. We are all so far off the average user that we are not who brands have to engineer their bikes for. https://enduro-mtb.com/performance-gap-das-dilemma-moderner-bikes/

5/20/2026 10:41am I think this might be more of a US/Canada-centric view. The Specialized Turbo Levo line is over 10 years old. The Canyon Spectral:ON line is over 8 years old. Those are just two examples of model lineage/aging, but they were released to capitalise on an already-growing market. In Europe, eBikes are huge, and they totally dwarf mountain bike sales. This isn't a recent phenomenon - it's been the case for a while now. All the reports from shops are that they don't really sell many/any mountain bikes over the £/€3,000ish mark - once consumers get to that price point, they...

5/12/2026 10:23am I have long wondered if shops are going to bypass distributers and go directly to Asian factories for consumable parts. Ie shift cables, crimps etc. It would mean longer lead times and someone with greater responsibility when it comes to ordering, but it also would mean better margins for already generally high margin items, that consumers are not brand loyal...

5/2/2026 10:53am I think you underestimate the "I want the best of the best" market of people who buy nice things to leave in their garage.

5/1/2026 3:07pm There will be a push for OE spec. Much of the launch marketing was that DH proves the effectiveness of the product, but they have a place on enduro/trail bikes. SRAM buying OChain is so they can get OE sales on higher end spec. Probably reasonable cost at OE level with a complete Transmission drivetrain, and a selling feature for...

5/1/2026 10:52am I think one of the largest "We're not in Kansas anymore" moments I had when I began working for a component manufacturer after years in bikes shops was when I had the insignificance of aftermarket sales explained to me. Don't get me wrong, every brand worth their salt is going to support aftermarket product bc why leave money on the table, but OE sales are king in the bike industry and ultimately OE sales drives every design decision. SRAM gets to push the convenience of full SRAM spec by limiting cross compatibility. For brands like Canyon, Specialized, etc., who are...

4/21/2026 9:27am Can you please not drag your abrasive views on world situation into every damn topic? We're talking about bikes not world politics. As for the new Demo and Sram drivetrain thingamajiggy, will it be available for other brands besides Specialized too? Does it circumvent DWs twochainz patent?

4/13/2026 6:18pm I think post-covid the endemic companies need to be looking over their shoulder. My understanding is that as there was overstock in shops and distributers factories in Asia have been looking to do more of the sales in NA and Europe themselves. DJI launched Avinox and Amflow and are doing numbers. If they can hit the price point due to...

4/9/2026 1:46pm A sale is a sale at this point. I think many brands are just hoping to sell through a production run of something at margin these days.

4/7/2026 6:20am I saw it mentioned elsewhere by a brand representative that the major growth area was in their adventure moto gear. It's all relatively high ticket, and the one segment of moto that is very strong these days.

4/6/2026 11:20am It seems like Leatt has gotten past over stock issues? 2024 net loss to 2025 net income. Does this meaning the protection and apparel space is starting to have less aged inventory and back to a healthier state? Interesting as it seems like this is coming from sales to distributers and not D2C based on the BR article. I rarely...

3/27/2026 9:12am Unfortunately I'm an idiot, so I'll answer your question even if it is sarcastic. I found a known value that's easy to measure, the rear brake rotor. I set it to 203mm (as mentioned in a bike check from my memory) 16.2cm = 6.377 inch, rounded up however the app used rounds things and also not a perfect angle. Closest match for phone size would be a Iphone 16/17 pro max at 16.3 cm or a google pixel 9/10 at 6.3 inches. I'm going to go with the iphone 16/17 pro max. I should touch grass. I'm also either going...

2/12/2026 9:59am The sarcastic Charlie response is that Markus continues to find new and creative ways to get his face in front of people's eyeballs. I would imagine the measured Jeff Brines response is that, nevertheless, here we are talking about Markus and YT again.

2/6/2026 9:04am Yeah communication is key. Many shops are smaller crews but having a competent service writer would be huge for most shops. I always found that taking the time to measure chain wear/rotor thickness/pad thickness in front of customers did a few things. 1. It shows you are measuring and not guessing which helps build trust 2. It gives you the...

12/19/2025 10:36am When I refer to "manpower" I am talking about our in-house capacity. We manufacture/assemble our posts in Taiwan in our own facilities with our own team of now 13 people. That means every single post is assembled by ourselves, not, as it is otherwise often the case, by a "partner"/factory/assembler who is contracted to do all the sourcing, manufacturing, assembly to get the product ready in the box to sell. We draw every single part, source the suppliers, have them made, get them to us and then put everything together in our own facilities with our own machines. No post...

12/19/2025 10:14am If you want to know the defnition of what a forecast is, I cna try to explain in my own words (that is how we work with forecasts and does not need to apply for others): For starters, we are an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) for many brands. That means that companies buy our products to put them on their complete bikes. Usually, before the beginning of a new year or model year, our customers will provide us with an estimate of their complete demand for a certain period of time. This estimate is called a forecast. This forecast can...
