8/11/2026 5:31am Laser cutting hardened steel results in pretty significant stresses due to the thermal differential. I’ve never seen steel come off the bed, hardened or not, that was flat after being cut by a laser. Lots of post work is required to result in rotors that don’t suck (imo). Stamping doesn’t mean that it’s garbage. I would suspect there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than people think to get “good” rotors. That being said I think ice-tech rotors are garbage and are more prone to thermal warpage than solid rotor. Ive trued more Shimano rotors than I’ve...

8/9/2026 11:33pm LSC 5 , HSC 4 , HSR 2 , LSR 0 That’s basically the setting Cotic reccomended +- a few clicks here and there. It’s a gen 2 Kitsuma 550lb Coil, I weigh 87kg, on a Rocketmax gen 4 XL. I’m kind of a set and forget guy, I expected to find the rebound too fast but not so. The riding I like doing is steep enduro type tracks but more often than not find myself on local off piste, which are often trying to get the most out of 60m of vert with little stump jumps and the like...

8/9/2026 4:11am Since the thread exists already, maybe we can use it for setups, tips and tricks etc.? I am installing right now a Kitsuma coil on a Propain Tyee 5. Has anyone of you a good base setting for me? XL-bike, the shock is a 210-55mm and I am using a 500lbs spring on it. I weigh 90 kilos in bike...

8/6/2026 1:19am I have to give Maxxis props on this, I normally go through 2 rears a season and I feel like this might actually make it! at 200lb I'm not the easiest on rear tires either.

8/5/2026 4:47am Not sure how far you have to go back but I have talked about it. I’ve just put in a claim for my 4th M1 motor… to see if I can get one of the quieter ones. 😅 M2s is quiet as is Bosch G5… we’ve seen more Bosch warranties through our shop than Avinox in this last year.

8/4/2026 2:05am Respectfully, were you able to change rear spring rate on both bikes? I can see that the V10 has a coil, but I can't tell on the TR11 because the shock is behind your leg. I ask because one of the worst days of bike riding in my life was when I rented a V10 from a shop in Creekside (maybe Coastal Culture Sports? I can't remember) that had a coil rear shock. I hadn't ridden a DH bike in years at that point and had been loving my XL 29" Megatower, so I was excited to see what a...

8/4/2026 2:01am @DServy sums it up nicely. I actually rode 3 bikes on this trip, 1 heavily modified enduro bike (XL nomad 6) and 2 dh bikes (L TR11 - L V10), so I got a pretty good chance to directly compare a 175/180 enduro bike to a dh bike. Further helping the comparison, is that WBP is in the worst shape this year for end of July then it has been for the last 6. Overall, I'd say that a DH bike at the bike park is the move. I've only ridden 1 dh bike (a previous gen, 2022 tr11 for...

8/4/2026 1:53am Enduro bikes are really good. But nothing beats or replaces a park bike or full on DH rig in the bike park. It is the whole package that gives you a better experience. Dual crown fork, weight bias of the bike, wheelbase, component specs, geo, weight. They all make a DH bike the ideal choice for bike parks.

8/4/2026 1:53am If you are going to ride the bike park and the option for a DH bike exists whether it is renting it or bringing your own, go with the DH bike. Even if you've never ridden a DH bike and think "oh, I don't know if I need a DH bike, maybe I'm not fast enough for a DH bike, maybe I won't be able to handle a DH bike, maybe it's too much bike for me." Shut up. You don't need that kind of negative talk in your life. Get the DH bike.

8/3/2026 8:33am So stoked to put them on my bike, i think its gonna be a great upgrade. Gotta head to the LBS to fit some caliper spacers and then im off to the trails to bed em in. Was able to get two for cheaper than a single Galfer shark, from amazon of all places... They were selling them in pairs for $165 CAD.

7/31/2026 11:02pm the new thick rotors are so much more resistant to heat buildup that I felt my first F1 moment on 220/200mm on my large eeb: depending on the pad and conditions, I was having to drag brake at the start of trails to get the mofos up to temp! Made me feel like Han Solo. A small price to pay for pretty much eliminating brake fade over long runs. Brakes feel solved.

7/31/2026 8:21am It's physics. The braking torque applied increases linearly with the radius of the brake disc. Torque = Force × radius Ignoring other variables (like brake setup, applied force on the lever, same disc design, equally bed in brake pads and discs), increasing the brake disc diameter from 200 mm to 220 mm corresponds to a 10% increase in braking torque...

7/30/2026 6:13am I know you're not going to want to hear this, but: On these SPD test rides, have you tried thinking about something other than your feet? If you focus on your feet while you're in clips, they're going to feel weird if you're used to flats, and weird is likely going to progress to bad and then terrible the more you think about it. I remember my first few rides on clips, coming from flat pedals. Those first few rides were on Shimano SPD pedals that felt icy exactly like you describe. But then, over next few weeks, I did...
