8/13/2026 12:44am In addition to Lapierre filing for judicial reorganization, Raleigh (Accel UK/Ireland) has filed to appoint administrators. Both are trying to restructure separately from the Accell holding company. Should be interesting. Bike EU article may be paywalled

8/9/2026 1:54pm LSC 5 , HSC 4 , HSR 2 , LSR 0 That’s basically the setting Cotic reccomended +- a few clicks here and there. It’s a gen 2 Kitsuma 550lb Coil, I weigh 87kg, on a Rocketmax gen 4 XL. I’m kind of a set and forget guy, I expected to find the rebound too fast but not so. The...

8/8/2026 12:54am After I landed one footed on a jump and bent a pedal axel, which I blamed on the shoes of course and not my shitty bike riding, I searched high and low for some new flat pedal shoes at the sub £120 mark. It was slim pickings indeed. I’ve since got some winter freeriders and while they’re good, I still...

8/7/2026 2:27am When I was a little, 5-year old kid in the 80s, I won a full-sized, red Raleigh mountain bike in a draw at the general store in my tiny, Newfoundland hometown. The old man was fucking stoked. Both myself and my older brother each road it for a time when we were older. I think he still has it out in the garage. All to say, I'm sad to hear of their demise as well, as I have a lingering fondness despite their products holding zero consumer appeal to me.

8/6/2026 2:39pm Raleigh going under as part of this is a real kick in the teeth. It’s a big part of British industrial and cycling history, it was once the biggest bike company in the world with a huge footprint in Nottingham. Growing up everyone wanted a Raleigh bike for Christmas. I do hope they can find someone to take it on...

7/24/2026 2:10pm I know it can feel like the phone is listening to you but that would break a bunch of laws- actually what’s happening is your friend is interested in a topic, companies have mapped your social circle and know you both hit the same WiFi network/voluntarily gave them your location, so they can make a guess that you spoke about...

7/18/2026 11:48pm Coming off two weeks riding in the Scottish Borders, tweed valley and the like, the wear on my Romy gravity pro soft is pretty high, side knobs are undercutting. I don’t ride particularly hard and don’t usually find the area to be hard on tyres. The performance however has been fantastic. It is bone dry.

7/12/2026 2:32pm I’m joking, appreciate that it’s not clear over text. There was a long inane discussion about this previously; of course one can choose to spec lighter tires, less draggy hubs or pound one less post ride beer to be more efficient but none of that is relevant to a discussion on friction losses in a gearbox. @sspomer @jeff.brines Really enjoyed...

7/10/2026 12:28am Why don’t DGI just spec electronic suspension to cancel out the inefficiency of gearboxes, are they stupid?

6/30/2026 11:19am The electronic suspension/high pivot/stand up and pedal convo is the dumbest thing to happen to tech rumors in a long time. Banal, illogical, myopic.

6/29/2026 4:00pm Nvidia and most chip designer companies operate based on the litography roadmap that the chipmaker have. We already know that updated 4nm, 3nm and 2nm chip are in various prototype & testing stage with planned rollout for well into 2029. So Nividia is only planning new generation based on the TSMC timeline. We will only know what the actual product spec (how much core, memory size, memory bus width, wattage and various speed) 3-6 months in advance which is usually 1 1/2+ year since the last top sku was launched. RTX 3090 was launched sept 2020 RTX 4090 was launched...

6/25/2026 3:29pm I mean it just came off as your typical fortune mag ceo jerk off interview. I will agree with and give props to trek’s investment in female athletes. Vali, Rachel, neff, Mosley. They have no issue funding around a female first and men second in mtb racing. for me reading the article explains a lot of how trek ended up in the shape it is today. But I agree burke doesn’t seem like a bad guy. But he is pretty full of himself and his views on things that ain’t got nothing to do with bikes. A couple of which...

6/24/2026 11:01pm I just stumbled on an interview with the CEO of Trek. https://fortune.com/2026/05/06/trek-ceo-john-burke-gen-z-tariffs-ai-nat… I only skimmed it but my initial reaction was "woah, tone deaf". Also, LMK if this was posted earlier and I missed - will delete if so.

6/24/2026 11:01pm Such a wild read, the idea of getting through 52 books a year by reading just the first sentence of each paragraph and using that to decide whether to read the rest is deeply disturbing.

6/17/2026 4:51am These days* the main differences are BB's are often crappy plastic cups with narrow profile bearings pressed in to frames with poor tolerances, so they need retaining compound to hold them in. Headsets are more commonly alloy cups pressed in to better tolerance frames so they don't need the retaining compound to hold them in or take up variation in roundness. Or they don't have cups and the bearing sits directly on the frame. It isn't unheard of to loctite a headset cup in but its extremely rare and is a sign of a problem with the frame rather than...
