5/18/2026 11:13pm I thought it was the quietest hub ever initially- nope when it breaks in it gets more noisy. It’s not hope levels of noise though.

5/13/2026 6:27am Yep I’ve settled on a couple of extra HSC clicks and nothing on low speed, perhaps need one there too though.

5/13/2026 3:51am I found that smaller diameter grips work better in almost every way - although thicker grips are cushier, I find myself gripping on them harder because they feel vague; moreover, I can hold on more securely and relaxedly on thinner grips since I can wrap more of my hand around the bar. That said, grips are pretty cheap so you can easily try out both thick and thin to see which one you like better. You might also consider push-on grips - super thin but softer and absorbs more vibration than even the thickest lock-ons. As for adjusting cockpit, one...

5/13/2026 3:49am Lots of really good advice in here. I just want to chime in with some notes on mentality with this sort of issue. I don’t and have never earnt money with my hands, which over time makes you weak and flabby. When you take that weak and flabby body and subject it to a new very physical hobby, especially one...

5/13/2026 2:33am I feel bad already about cluttering tech rumors with a politics post. Lets leave it here and I'll let someone make/revive a politics thread if they want to bitch more. In terms of thermoplastic vs epoxy carbon and the repair of frames, are carbon repairers able to work with thermoplastic? There are two carbon repairers in my city that do excellent work on bikes. All fairly affordable and straightforward. What happens if I approach them with a broken thermoplastic carbon frame? Ignoring theoretical repairability, is it currently practical/possible to fix?

5/12/2026 10:00pm Long time lurker, first time poster here. For some background I’m an aerospace composites engineer and spent several years in Advanced Product Development with an emphasis on environmentally friendly materials. There’s so much to get into on this topic and if folks are interested I’d love to start a dedicated thread on materials and environmental impacts. The TLDR is, carbon fiber as a green product on its own is a fallacy. The raw fiber production may result in a certain level of carbon sequestering, but the process is still so energy intensive I wouldn’t call it an environmental positive. As...

Between The Tape Liked a forum topic Should You Reverse Your Stem? - Reece Wilson Setup Analysis
5/11/2026 1:50pm If you haven’t already, check out Vital’s latest PIT BITS for a quick overview of Reece’s particular setup. While there is a lot of interesting tech on Reece’s bike, one defining feature is the prototype raised reversed stem manufactured by Be More Bikes. Reece combines this stem with high rise bars to create a tall stack with reduced reach. This allows Reece to extend at the hips more, creating a tall, upright riding posture. However, doing this causes his center of mass to shift backward, disrupting the front-to-rear weight balance on the wheels. To counteract this and redistribute weight back...

5/9/2026 10:42am How is it working? I’m on db8 caliper Shimano xt lever for my front brake and it’s working really well, will see how it fares at a bike park in a couple weeks time though. Weirdly, the feel at the lever is very similar to the rear brake which is still full shimano.

5/8/2026 6:47am Regarding the tuning and unlocking and all, France has it covered: https://ebike-mtb.com/en/france-bans-illegal-emtb-tuning/ Don't know what it's like elsewhere, but over here in Slovenia people whizzing past on electric scooters at mach chicken are a fairly common sight and are an accident waiting to happen. An unlocked ebike is not much better, maybe the control is a bit better than what you can do on a scooter...

5/8/2026 5:12am If you take the thoughts of this thread to be true, logically we’re in a pretty rubbish situation. Ie if the following holds, which I think it does- It’s functionally impossible to keep power limits of e-bikes to around the 1k peak watts & 15 mph level. 1.5k peak watts on an 800% assist pedal throttle (half a Surron) is...

5/4/2026 10:01am Thank you all for the interest in our bikes and in our distribution / sales model. To give you a bit of context, we’re currently a team of 9 people at RAAW, based in Germany, and we ship worldwide directly from here. The US has actually grown into our biggest market after Germany, which is pretty wild considering that every RAAW in the US has been shipped individually from Germany. Our goal is, of course, to make the ordering process and ownership experience as easy as possible. Having stock in the US would be ideal, but that comes with a...

5/1/2026 9:28pm I made my last post when I was generally frustrated with life. Sorry about that. Most of you are probably still not going to agree with me, but I'll try again and then shut up. I think it's really, really important our community talks about whatever these two-wheeled machines with 800% assist and enormous torque/power actually are, and I don't want to stifle that occurring in this thread. I hope this thread gets a lot of traction and I learn something about why others feel so differently than me. Finally, apologies for waxing a bit philosophical. Honor, or whatever you...

4/29/2026 2:34pm I don't loath Avinox but I also wouldn't pay my own money for one of their bikes - This is my tinfoil-hat brain thinking but I'm wary of any brand that is potentially monopolising a section of the market. I also don't know what brand I would happily pay for at the moment (maybe pinion?) because Bosch isn't exactly a leader in doing right by the consumer either Vertical integration is something I wouldn't be surprised to see even more of - I've been a fan of the idea of electronic suspension and IMO a lot of the typical e-bike...

4/29/2026 1:24am Cheers for making this thread. I think it’s going to get quite old man shouts at clouds, but there we go. It’s a complicated picture, 3...
