I don’t think anything’s changed tbh, Finn took most of last year off to properly recover and spent the whole winter riding and on good health, Jordan having Nico there as a coach is obviously going to help. If anything if Loic wasn’t injured it would mean just more Specialized team riders in the top 5

Little insight I got. July release for yeti Avinox cvt system is not 100% and far out from coming to the market. Apparently issues with the system auto shifting down when rider puts high watts combine with motor. Sounds like System protecting itself. Not sure if this is just a software or the system not being able to handle it. We’ll see. Some high ups in specialized are not happy. A nasty email sent to engineers/ product developers to step it up and motor/gearbox combo bike priority 1 Specialized has an unreleased bike the industry will get to see at...

Riders' goals matter, this is where racing and daily riding for nine-to-fivers diverge. Enduro and DH racers want the fastest speed going down, recreational riders are looking for the best compromise to reduce suffering on the way up. The people I ride with only care about speed when climbing . For descending we want confidence and predictability. Confidence = speed for us. The tire that is fastest descending changes 150 times a year based on the specific trail and the amount of moisture (or complete lack thereof). My ideal tires for a weekday lunch ride on Galbraith flowy stuff are...

It depends on what question you are looking to answer. Race sim will tell you which tire you are faster on. If you want to know about rolling speed of radial Mary vs standard Mary for instance then Chung method can get you some numbers, but it's very difficult to do, especially offroad. Chung method assumes you are accurately repeating, so basically you can't use the brakes and things like that. The Golden cheetah software does have a tool to help with analysis though. The simplest way to compare rolling speed is with a section of trail with a U...

To give him his full credit; Graves actually has a couple of Australian national championships in short-track XC formats plus 4X rainbow stripes, EWS overall, DH worlds bronze and made the finals in Olympic BMX.

Pretty cool storyline there. There can't be many people who have both World Cup XCO and DH results in their MTB history. Since the old days, anyway. I remember seeing both Missy Giove and Tomac do both, but I doubt there's many others?

So... In terms of triple headers, this has got to be the best venue on the UCI MTB circuit right? The downhill track is sick, the XC track nearly looked like an enduro track I saw dudes gapping rock gardens on 120/120 bikes... And the enduro looked gnarlier than the DH including a night stage (on maybe the hardest section). Not sure how many other triple headers there are, or even double headers for that matter... But wow this new venue seems to have done everything 'right'

Because all the reviews of the Yeti 6-bar ebikes talked about how great the suspension system worked. This is the first time that you'll be able to get it without a motor.

As questioned above. Can it be set up for cable actuated shifting without lots of ugly zip-ties?

Don´t be too happy too early 🤪.... I think the port for cable shifting is hiding right there under the CS protection. I´m super happy I got myself a Rallon R7 beginning of the Season, otherwise this could have get really, really bad for my bank account. Stunning looking bike and when the sixfinitiy works as good as on the Lte and Mte: Hallelujah!! Edit: sorry can´t upload the edited Photo ... but look at the open space on the ende of the CS protection in picture #4

Radial tires from everyone but Kenda, should create some more skus in rubber, but I don’t expect to see any new treads- except for 32 in tires , which will be weird looking. All new e-bike motors will all have gearboxes, freeing the high pivots but also improving the mid and low pivots : should see new framesets sooner than expected Sea otter, eurobike, and even bespoke already happened so most of the years “hot shit” is already out Shimano still won’t release new saint.

Losses from bearings are extremely minimal and not noticeable. ~0.1w. The losses in an idler bike are coming from forcing the chain to articulate under tension. Most mtb riders probably have somewhere between 5-10+% loss from the drivetrain (chain). Those losses come from making the chain articulate under load via internal chain friction. Forcing that extra loaded articulation I would expect losses to increase by 30-50%. So your typical dirty oiled mtb chain goes from losing 20w to 30w at 200w chill pedaling load and only gets worse from there. 5w increases are generally considered noticeable. The only thing you...
