Fox Added a reply to E-bike talk: not tech rumor derailment
8/18/2026 12:56pm The Amflow and Teewing bikes look like a good value. Can you actually buy one and have it within a week? Seems like there are a lot of people waiting around for Avinox equipped bikes that were ordered and in some cases paid for a while (months) ago. Considering how fast new bikes are coming out, I would not want...

8/18/2026 8:20am A thought at occurred me about the early days of EWS. In my view, a draw to the racing was when DH racers were looking for a career change, for whatever reason, EWS gave a race series to carry on racing in. The likes of Vouilloz, Fabien Barel, Tracey Mosley, Sam Hill, Blenki, Jack Moir (and a load more i can't think of, off the top of my head), changed series and brought some or all of their viewership/fans with them. This switching of series, seems to have stopped, though the lack of manufacturer support really hobbles riders decision to...

8/17/2026 9:38am While I’m no 32er apologist. I’m old enough to remember this exact argument when 29ers came out. I was working at a shop in College when 29ers started to hit the market, people would come in and actually get pissed at us for having 29ers on the floor. Anyone remember anti-29er stickers on people’s cars? I can remember a few different stickers, one said “One less 29’er”. I even remember being at a trail head in Pisgah in college, my buddy unloaded his 29er from the back of my truck and a “local” said “those aren’t welcome here”. No one...

8/13/2026 6:20pm All bikes are fun. I was at a moto event recently where every kid had a Levo and they were all having a blast. Maybe more of a focus on just straight fun than the groms that normally inhabit the bike park. It was entertaining to see a bunch of moto kids ride the bike park. Some of them will convert to mtb riders in the future no doubt.

8/11/2026 3:46pm I bet there is good business to be had in the kids ebike market. Low effort speed and no noise is a very attractive package to a kid.

8/4/2026 1:52pm @DServy sums it up nicely. I actually rode 3 bikes on this trip, 1 heavily modified enduro bike (XL nomad 6) and 2 dh bikes (L TR11 - L V10), so I got a pretty good chance to directly compare a 175/180 enduro bike to a dh bike. Further helping the comparison, is that WBP is in the worst shape this year for end of July then it has been for the last 6. Overall, I'd say that a DH bike at the bike park is the move. I've only ridden 1 dh bike (a previous gen, 2022 tr11 for...

8/3/2026 7:48pm Trail setup will be full 29" and the park setup will be mullet. For the 29" wheels, I've got an older Bontrager carbon wheelset I've freshened up — nothing special and a little on the heavy side, but it'll run Schwalbe Trail Pros, which have been holding up really well for me. You can run higher pressure and skip inserts, and they feel light compared to DoubleDown or DH casings. I'd prefer a Magic Mary up front, but I've got an Albert I need to use, plus a Romy for the rear. Should roll fairly quick. If I were buying...

8/3/2026 2:05pm I do not disagree that income inequality, housing costs, weak local economies, and the erosion of discretionary spending make it harder to sell expensive recreational products. I have been making that argument for a while, and it fits directly into the “barbell hypothesis.” That said, invoking homelessness, smartphone addiction, Strava, cul-de-sacs, and the broader failures of capitalism does not demonstrate that independent bike shops are unbankable or that cycling culture is broadly collapsing. This conversation has taken a relatively narrow discussion about dealer economics and expanded it into a sweeping cultural diagnosis that is difficult to respond to directly, though...

8/3/2026 8:40am Might be an unpopular opinion, but I think swapping wheels and tires matters more than swapping bikes. I'd rather pedal a reasonably efficient enduro bike on light wheels with trail casings than a downcountry bike on DH casings. And the gap between an enduro on lighter tires and a downcountry on trail tires just isn't big enough to justify a second bike — especially since I'm never on XC trails. I used to run a shorter-travel trail bike alongside the enduro. Now I just have the one bike — 170 front / 160 rear — and two wheelsets.

8/3/2026 8:38am To answer your question about swapping wheelsets... yes it's far better then you think it would be. I keep all of the bikes in my families fleet on 200mm sram hs2 rotors and sram metallic pads. There are 7 wheelsets between 6 bikes and of those 7 wheelsets, 6 are dt350 hubs, 1 is i9 hubs, 4/6 of the bikes utilize transmission cassettes and 2 utilize eagle cassettes. I had to shim the brake rotor on the i9 hub with .5mm shims so that I can swap wheels without touching brake calipers. All of the bikes shift fine and no...
