Well I guess that's good as the current one is pretty piss poor up front unless you have grippy enough terrain to get to those side knobs and stay there. I've never had an issue with the dead spot in a front tire until the TC but in my loose rocks it was a lot of mad grip with edge biting followed by massive slip when terrain prevented full commitment, and it got tiresome. Also, I agree with radials just not working at higher speeds for me. You can add a lot of air pressure to counteract this but then...

I’ve ridden the mm radial at pressures between 18 and 32. It doesn’t have the same levels of support as other tires and it becomes noticeable (to me) when riding trails that are 15+ mph. If I were to list the tires I’ve ridden in terms of sidewall support it would probably go something like: Mich dh 22 Mich enduro ms Conti kryptotal dh Mich enduro mh Mm gravity Mm radial gravity Assegai exo+

I thought the same as well, sidewall support is significantly worse. However when I increased pressure to bring back a adequate level of support, the grip is still much better than the non-radial stuff.

RAAW addressed this issue by using modular dropouts. They first did it with their Yalla DH bike which has now trickled down to their Madonna v3.2. This is what the DH industry might head towards to accommodate UDH. Also can we take a moment to drool over how the black and silver SRAM design works with the RAAW frames 🤤

The XX chain or any of the transmission chains are insanely hard wearing and very strong overall. I have 3 seasons on one that came with the XX groupset and still can't measure any hint of wear using the latest gauges. Probably close to 160,000+M in vert and thousands of kilometers on the MTB. I think they really meant it when they say this system will last the lifetime of the bike.

Just to add something concrete here: shorter chainstays means more movement at the handlebars is converted into less movement of the rear axle. Given two bikes with the same FC, the one with the shorter RC will give the bars more leverage when bunnyhopping, pumping, jumping, etc. The weight on the pedals is constant for a given rider, but you...

Mickey this was awesome, and true IMO; And I realize I'm replying to a week old post and have not read the next page but your post inspired me. The amount of people who think all mechanical objects are made by magic wizards has always astounded me. A counter point would be (and I admit I am 1 whole page and 1 whole week behind on the forum) that what you've described as basic skills could really be extended to most professional tasks. I broke out my multimeter to check out what was broken on my heat pump for my...

The sarcastic Charlie response is that Markus continues to find new and creative ways to get his face in front of people's eyeballs. I would imagine the measured Jeff Brines response is that, nevertheless, here we are talking about Markus and YT again.

I wouldn't put much weight in the enduro mag test findings - the results don't make any sense. I see a few issues: 1. Shimano XTR, XT, and SLX all have the same mechanical and hydraulic power output, but the test results show them as being wildly different. 2. They also show TRP DHR evo as dramatically underperforming XTR. Having used both, this is just incorrect... 3. And lastly, XTR being next to Maven in terms of test results in laughable. XTR is a cross country brake compared to maven stopping power. Based on the wild discrepancy between mechanically equal...

I always found the stock smooth levers on Codes and Mavens to be too smooth, with a lack of feedback/grip. My work-around for a long time was putting a tiny strip of grip tape there, then splurged on some nice CNC'd Oak Components levers. I'm good now, but hopefully for others the new "speed holes" and carbon levers will have some sort of dimples or texture where the finger rests.
