Yes, I'm sorry if I was unclear. That was sarcasm, and everything about this news report is the worst. I was being sarcastic and grumpy about the apparent PR desire to frame this terrible news as a win for customers, sort of like "Man receiving double amputation finally sheds the freshman 15 and then some."

It doesn't work that way. The only thing that matters is the braking torque and the effects on the suspension which is what antirise is.

the Bosch PX motor in the Norco Sight VLT Bosch A works like a regular mountain bike. If you pedal backwards, the chainring goes with it. It does not have any over-run at all, so when you stop pedaling, it stops pedaling. if you're used to over-run, it takes a bit to get used to and you can't give a 1/8th crank and get a long kick like you can w/ over run motors. here's a video we made of the norco w/ PX vs a Levo

I frigged around with the etuning app on a shimano e7000. Made the wheel size smaller so the registered speed was a touch faster than shown. Still has 60nm so it doesn't climb very fast but the higher cut off speed was nice for hitting jumps that may need a few pedal strokes. When i bought the motor it was set for a 29" rear wheel and mine is 27.5. It was unnerving getting committed for a gap and the trail , or me, was running slow. I'd go for a few pedal strokes and it was like i dropped...

Do they give details about where the extra drag comes from, or is it just some vague hand-waving without evidence? I would have thought eCVTs would be less draggy than a Pinion MGU, but I guess we'll have to see how the execution plays out. Unclear about mass, but it seems like a lot of folks here were keen on getting rid of rear axle mass in favor of BB mass, and this would do that. Unclear how they would manage direct peddling, say, if the battery was dead. That might be a problem. I'm not in the market for...

I had the same bike but with blue paint, also with a Mr. Dirt fork, MRP chainguide, Azonic stem, and Gazzoloddi so this is a real trip down memory lane! I think that frame is probably from right around 1997-98. The 1996 bikes had shorter upper links, with the shock mounting right in the middle of the link, so they only had around 6" of travel. The front brake/rear brake thing really comes down to terrain and riding style, but mostly terrain. There are trails where it's easier for me to accidentally make my rear tire skid, and other trails where it's easier for me to accidentally make my front tire skid. If grip is good on a trail, my weight is typically going to shift forward when I brake, loading the front tire and creating grip there while unloading the rear. Crown Land, which is provincially managed public land and makes up 90% of the land in BC. This is the land that gets logged, mined, and recreated on. Logging on private land is much less common and tends to happen on Vancouver Island for some reason.
