Honest question for knowledgeable people in the forum: are these standards any different than what Trek was already offering on their ebikes? Have they downgraded the speed, power, or throttle access of their ebikes, or are they just committing to not upgrade the speed, power, or throttle access?

Electronic suspension is just an automatic lockout. The convo should be "does a lockout benefit idler equipped bikes" As has been said before, lockouts, whether manual or electronically activated, don't offer unique benefits to idler equipped bikes. Think of a hard tail with an idler- it would still pedal noticeably less efficient than a regular hard tail because of chain drag. Nothing to do with rear suspension.

Except, as I already explained, locking out the suspension doesn't make a high pivot bike more efficient drivetrain wise. At the same time it's not inefficient bob wise. Again, as I said, electronic suspension makes sense on a traditional drivetraj layout which is designed to be inherently inefficient pedal bob wise as you get a lot of downhill performance you otherwise get from an idler design (no pedal kickback).
