I'm pretty sure I've never come across anyone wearing out pads in the front twice as quick as the rear, are you riding a penny farthing :-)

So theres a few things - Most riders, even the best ones spend for more time on the rear brake so it will get hotter faster, and this only gets more pronounced on steeper/faster tracks. The terrain is a lot more uneven and loose which makes it tricky to apply maximum front brake for every corner, plus a rider can shift their weight backwards much more than a car or motorcycle can. The other thing is polymers have a non-linear relationship between load and friction, which means there are diminishing returns to loading the front wheel under braking. ie if...

What do you mean amplify. Weight transfer gives you more grip. It only makes sense to have more braking power (i.e. bigger rotor) in the front. QED: literally every car on the road. If it has a rear weight bias (Porsche for example) or a near 50 50 split, the difference front to rear is smaller, but still present.

9/2/2026 9:12pm Yeah, I am not sure of the exact details and other possible differences, but my understanding is that prototype molds are made from aluminum and thus are much faster and easier to machine, whereas full production run molds are steel and are much more difficult, time consuming, and therefore costly to produce.

I had the same issue at first. At first I thought the round bit at the center was the axle cross section, and the top and bottom bits were some sort of sliding bushings/bearings, but I'd never seen a pedal with 2 piece bushings, at which point I realized it was the inner/outer races with a ball bearing in the middle. Shame effigear can't get their act together. I genuinely think it's a better design; no double seal needed for concentric output, no overdrive, etc means out of the box there is a huge potential for efficiency gains, not to mention the removal of an idler.

I loved my Taniwha till I tried more updated geometry 😄 As much as I love the idea of the Smart Shift, I feel like it actually neuters the bike with the slower shifts. The gripshift is so quick and has such a short throw, so you can grab so many gears. The amount of time you actually need to back off the pedals to shift is so short. You're only limited by how quickly you can twist the thing. I was really disappointed with the Cinq shifters. I have video somewhere. If I remember right, I could get through...

Are these "Gothic Arch" bearings a completely new innovation, and if so, did Praxis invent them, or Enduro? I've never heard of them before, and Google searches only bring them up in reference to these specific pedals. Despite being called "Enduro Gothic Arch Bearings" the Enduro bearings site doesn't even have mention of them. It seems likely to me that they are something from outside the bike industry that is being repurposed, similarly to the solid lube bearings, but maybe they normally have a more technical name which is why Gothic Arch isn't getting any Google results in relation to...

Honest question for knowledgeable people in the forum: are these standards any different than what Trek was already offering on their ebikes? Have they downgraded the speed, power, or throttle access of their ebikes, or are they just committing to not upgrade the speed, power, or throttle access?
