3/5/2026 9:26am I think all it might take is for a product manager to go to a bike shop for whatever reason and spot the wall of tyres for $100+ a pop...

3/5/2026 2:09am Yeah, safely walkable and bikeable cities sound like great places to live to me. Regarding the backlash against the 15min cities, I think a big part of it had to do with the implication that people's ability to travel outside of that 15min radius would be restricted. Sort of a, "I'm sorry Comrade, but you have not earned sufficient social...

3/5/2026 1:12am Wow, there really seems to be a resurgence in auto industry crossover product development lately...for reasons I can't really understand, given the stagnation in the bike industry.🤨 Regardless, I'm looking forward to seeing someone drive up to the trailhead with a car equipped with Dunlop tires, Bilstein shocks, and Brembo brakes, with a bike on the rack with a matching...

3/4/2026 4:45pm Yeah, Berd spokes seem ideal for backcountry repairs, due to the ease of carrying spares. Back in the day there was actually a company that made fiber spokes specifically for temporary use, to get you home if your steel spoke failed. I'm forgetting the exact name...Fiberfix, or something like that. At that time, they didn't consider the fiber tech to...

3/3/2026 6:46pm Yeah man, happy to be of help. From what you'd said before, I wasn't sure if the Levo 3 might be used or an ex-demo or something that might have no warranty. If you're getting it from an actual dealer, who just happens to not be near you, then you're right, any other Specialized dealer that is more conveniently located...

3/3/2026 4:22pm I rented a Levo 3 while on vacation and loved that bike. It felt super balanced and fun to ride on all sorts of trails, which makes sense as it won pretty much every "e-bike of the year" award and "e-bike shootout" the year it launched. Having said that, I had it for around 6 days, and did keep having...

3/2/2026 9:20pm If I remember they're only on gas gas ebikes, I've seen a couple come through my shop, and from a surface level it they feel pretty good. You can find those ebikes for cheap too, X0 transmission builds for like 4k because no body really bought them, if the drivetrain, suspension, other components are worth it to you, it's honestly a pretty sorted E bike, especially for the cost.

3/2/2026 9:20pm A Vital MTB Tech Rumors contributors and enjoyers meetup would be a secret society event I would be fired up to show up to. Somewhere like Whistler in the summer or an apres sea otter. It could be fully unofficial to uninvolve the legal teams of the vital overlords. We could make a partiful and t shirts. All would be merry. Core lords could flex. I would go.

3/2/2026 9:09pm Sorry if I'm overlooking something but, if they are both demo bikes, can you take them out on exactly the types of trails you're asking about? In particular, can you take them both on some blues to see if you feel like it kills the fun factor, and then take them both down a trail that is challenging but doable...

3/2/2026 8:33pm these are good questions... I have opinions of my own based on my own preferences and experiences. What your questions tell me, is that you aren't ready to buy an ebike right now, and you need to spend more time demo'ing them and answering those questions for yourself. No offense meant here... but time in the saddle is the only way to truly answer the questions you have. Do not rush into buying an ebike until you can answer these core questions you are asking... you will regret your purchase if you do not slow down and figure this out...

3/1/2026 10:40pm Regarding mechanics/causes of the pump-out sensation, it has always seemed to me to most likely be due to a mismatch in the speed at which the fluid can flow back through the hose and fittings when the lever is released, and the "demand" for fluid to take up the expanding space in the M/C as the lever returns to the...

3/1/2026 9:41pm Speaking of DVO, I recently saw that they have versions of their forks with WP cone valves. Has anyone ridden one of those, or even better, ridden both the WP version and the regular version to offer a comparison?

1/30/2026 6:29pm Crestline added swappable dropouts to ther emtb from their DH bike. It seems like a must have for any new frame from any brand moving forward.

1/30/2026 6:29pm A flip chip plus a swappable/adjustable dropout (or some other chainstay lengthening method) is "the answer" to a lot of people's questions. Brian Chainstayhill and others can have their long chainstays and Santa Cruz can reduce the number of different triangles they need to make. I think Pivot has a proprietary dropout that allows for length tweaks. I wonder if there's a way to engineer a similar approach without infringing on the design...I'd bet there is but I don't really know anything about that stuff nor have I looked at any filings.

1/30/2026 6:15pm Glad that info was helpful! Yeah, regarding cutting bars leading to increased stiffness, Race Face said that their testing showed a 24% increase when cutting an 800mm down to 760mm. I also saw that Merida did testing that showed about a 10% increase in stiffness for every 20mm reduction in width, which works out to be pretty close to the...

1/30/2026 12:09am What account did DJI/Avinox cancel for breaking embargo? That would be a real bummer to have cut molds and produced a bunch of frames, all dedicated to their motor fitment, only to have them tell you to the deal is off!😬 On the subject of the new M2 motor, I'd initially heard it would be a less expensive, heavier, but...
