1 day ago They're not new to ebikes as a manufacturer, but most of their work has been selling white label motors to other companies, kind of like Brose was focusing on for a while. For example, Gobao makes the motor for the Aventon bikes that Tippie is riding now.

Then I ran across this article from a local state news source of how everyone is dealing with it, which i already knew but, I got to thinking what's the potential for a class action lawsuit against Surron for mislabeling and purposely marketing their products as ebikes? Trail centers and even legitimate ebike manufacturers should be able to find standing and it would be a whole lot...

6/16/2026 9:29pm When the Avinox hit the market the 600 Wh battery crapped out when they tested it in full turbo. But that can happen to any battery the harder you strain it at some point. It depends how good the cell quality is and how the manufacturer programs the battery manage system in combination with the motor characteristic. You can also have a conservative or progressive approach for the programming resulting in different longetivity of the cells or depending on their quality. But essentially if you don't have an use case where you want to get only short, high power laps...

6/16/2026 9:29pm Don't see an edit button: The best info on batteries and efficiencies is this article: https://ebike-mtb.com/en/e-bike-motor-test-range-efficiency-vertical-ra… Unfortunately the test does not have the M2S, but in a different test they confirmed the 3% gain. One caveat to the "watt is a watt", is that manufacturers can print whatever number they want, for instance Specialized's 840Wh battery which by most metrics is smaller than a Bosch 800Wh. So it is possible that the Avinox 700Wh has a few more available Wh than advertised.

6/9/2026 3:20pm Yeah, I'd wondered if there was a connection between Loic using the split (presumably more flexy) crown, and Loic having arm/nerve problems and now needing to take 3mos off from competition. To put it more clearly, maybe he's been experimenting with more compliant setups in an attempt to give his arms a break.

6/6/2026 8:35pm It's wild that my 2018 Lyrik RC2 has been on 6 different bikes and every travel config between 150-180. Still going strong 8 years later with no creaks in the CSU. Best fork of all time. (yes it's red)

4/19/2026 9:58pm If we ever get 400Wh/kg battery densities, then it will be a very real possibility! Unfortunately, the highest I'm aware of right now is the new Avinox 700Wh at 220Wh/kg and the numbers are only creeping up very slowly (their 1gen 800s were 214Wh/kg if memory serves).

4/19/2026 1:18am While I fully empathize with your wish that DJI had focused on reducing weight rather than boosting power, it is unrealistic to think that they could go from 45-50lbs down to 38lbs. Their new M2S motor weighs about 5.75lbs, so they would need to get it down to 0lbs to achieve your target.

I am very intrigued by this new Avinox motor, and am eagerly looking forward to the big reveal on the 9th to see if they've fixed the rattle, and if they're offering bigger batteries and/or a range extender, but even if they blow me away with it, I'm a little bummed that my favorite LBSs don't really carry...

It’s funny when people act like they can’t feel the difference but i succinctly remember the “axel wars” and as a taller rider my riding absolutely reflected that 1.15mmwas a patent thing between the RS & FOX teams and actually ruined front ends handling for most riders when RS lost the war and caved to Shimano fox and 15qr. And 2. 20mm is superior and you can just feel it almost all the time . The older 20mm 29er forks that rock shox made were literally decades ahead in stiffness, to the new podium. So...
