There is some odd stuff online Re the steps 9000. There is old posts from 2019 about it so not sure? Anything leaked seems to include external batteries and items from the 8 series.
Square taper crank interface on an e-bike motor? I haven't seen that in a while! Regarding anything new from Shimano, I haven't heard anything at all, but have been wondering what their plan is. They're kind of a slow and steady company, generally speaking, and I'd imagine that it might be more challenging for them with how fast the ebike motor landscape has been moving. Kind of like when Sram introduced 1x drivetrains and it took Shimano a few years to properly respond. The thing is, 1x drivetrains basically stabilized, giving them time to catch up, whereas ebikes are early enough in their evolution that things may continue at a very rapid pace that Shimano has trouble keeping up with.
Teaser vid for new Pivot Shuttle AM with the new Avinox M2 motor, less than 2-months after they dropped the Shuttle LT with Bosch CX!

wild times, that's some quick turn around for changing motor, sales of other motors must be really down.
probably easier by now to make a list of brands who are NOT on avinox
I just got to eek a year or two out of this EP8 then I'll get a frame only avinox bike if they exist.
I'd rather get a rattle free motor and a bike that's optimized for weight and a removable battery.
Still missing a lot of common brands here in North America: Ibis, Yeti, Santa Cruz, Transition, YT, Cannondale, Norco, Canyon, Trek.
Yeah, agreed! I am very intrigued by this new Avinox motor, and am eagerly looking forward to the big reveal on the 9th to see if they've fixed the rattle, and if they're offering bigger batteries and/or a range extender, but even if they blow me away with it, I'm a little bummed that my favorite LBSs don't really carry any bikes that use the motors yet. I mean, they could order me a Crestline, but those are in short supply and 2x the price of more mainstream options. If I want to stick with my LBSs, it's really 100% Bosch (with the exception of some un-updated bikes from a couple of years ago with EP801s).
New avinox motor apparent specs
130 Nm
150 Nm Boost mode
1000W of maximum power
900 Wh Battery capacity
400Wh extender 1.5 kg.
Can you guys help me out. Currently riding a transition Relay PNW. 170mm front and rear, mullet. I’m sick of replacing motors, I do love the geo and over all love the bike so much. But it’s becoming an issue especially since I’m not sure Fazua will be around much longer. Who builds a SL long travel bike with aggressive geo like the relay with at least 170mm travel in the front. I’d love 170 rear but I could go 160ish. What in the heck can I replace my loved relay with? TQ 60 motor is my choice I don’t like the Bosch SL. I’ve ridden both.
Thanks guys
Enduro style bike. Trail bikes are not ideal for where I live.
Trek Fuel +?
Fuel + or slash???
Fuel is TQ60, Slash is TQ50.
Fuel can be configured 170 front, 160 rear, and mullet.
newer slash is 60.
Good to know, when does that come out? Battery size?
Little less travel but maybe one can put a bigger/longer shock in it, so: Norco Sight VLT TQ
Im not 100%, apparently they are available now in some markets. as trek list them as 50 and 60nm versions
https://www.trekbikes.com/gb/en_GB/bikes/mountain-bikes/electric-mounta…
'The Slash+ 9.7 is a capable and rowdy mid-assist e-MTB ready to tackle dicey, wild and long rides. It loads you up with the smooth assist of TQ's HPR 60 motor with a 580 Wh battery'
Yes, you can put a 170 in the front and remove spacer to get 162 in the back.
Really like the modular approach Trek took with that bike. I hope that more brands do that in the future given the high costs of switching motors every year or two.
If I had a Fuel+:
All Mountain/Exploration mode: full 29, 145 travel, 160mm Lyrik, range extender
Enduro/Freeride mode: mullet, 160mm travel, 170mm Zeb, 2nd battery in the shuttle truck
I did something similar with my Stumpy Evo, Changing rear travel/progression + a burlier fork transforms a bike a lot more than people would think. Swapping parts per ride could be a pain but then again purchasing and maintaining two ebikes is also a pain!
Thanks guys for all the suggestions. The Norco is a good looking bike. Might be a possibility.
Revel ReRun. 165/170. Bosch SX, 400Wh
The Rocky Mountain Instinct Powerplay SL would be worth a look too. Could potentially over-stroke the shock and throw a 170mm fork on there
This bike is so close, I just don’t get along with the Bosch SX motor. I think the tq60 is the best option for a mid power bike that rides like an analog bike. I know it limits the options
Over under on an Avinox-powered Orbea?
9.4 = avinox
It’s an avinox wild
if anyone at Vital is reading this thread, might make sense just to make a homepage article with a spreadsheet of all the Avinox bikes dropping officially tomorrow.
