5/4/2026 1:37pm Why only one chainstay between all sizes? ratios ranging from 1.68- 1.88 between sizes creates crazy different ride characteristics What was the idea behind keeping quite low stacks? Thanks for hopping on John, you are a legend.

4/17/2026 5:31pm Intradrive Gearbox Powertrain Tucked away in a tiny little booth on a side row was Intradrive. Turns out they're a small Scottish company that's been developing an 8-speed gearbox-equipped motor for eMTB brands dubbed the GD8. Shifting is wireless electronic, there's a 480% range, and the motor can output up to 700w. The founder said that the motors are built and wound in Scotland and that vast majority of the parts and materials are sourced from Europe if not made in-house. There's an emphasis on serviceability, and the unit fits a Shimano EP8 mount pattern. The one on display used...

4/8/2026 8:20am The Rocky Mountain Instinct Powerplay SL would be worth a look too. Could potentially over-stroke the shock and throw a 170mm fork on there

12/24/2025 9:06am I rode a bit with the saint lever and have noticed that there is a bit more initial pull force required vs the XT lever. There is a small initial "wall" of force that is required to pull the saint lever into its stroke, that simply does not exist with the xt lever. The saint servowave has a small notch that is noticeable to break into the stroke. My theory is that the plastic servowave guide on XT has less friction vs the metal on metal servowave guide with the saint. Can anyone with XTR comment on how breaking into...

12/24/2025 9:06am After a closer inspection of the Saint lever, the servowave guide has a sharper angle on the Saint vs the XT or XTR lever. This results in the higher initial pull force required at the start of the lever stroke. So I switched the XT lever back to the maven caliper and did a full bleed with redline likewater. Internet forum claims indicate that this ultra low viscosity suspension oil alleviates any wandering. We’ll see how it goes. I feel like I’m taking a bit of a risk mixing a low viscosity mineral oil with caliper seals not designed for...

11/20/2025 6:07am In honor of the 1000th page, we should vote on the best meme of 2025: 👍🏻 for “Crab” 👎🏻 for “6-7” edit: Carcinization is the antithesis of innovation. Maybe we should keep crab talk on the crab talk forum and keep this thread focused on MTB tech rumors and/or innovation.

7/30/2025 10:19am Adding stack does effectively add reach, because you would use less spacers to get the same bar height. Said another way - If you have two bikes with the same reach and head tube angle but one has a higher stack, that one will have a longer front-center.

7/30/2025 10:04am Looking at the Sentinel, adding 20mm of stack via stem spacers shortens the reach by 10mm - effectively putting the handlebar position in the same spot it would be on the Titan... Also, being able to get about a 15mm longer chainstay on the Titan makes a big difference to f/r balance meaning you don't need to ride over the...

7/30/2025 6:54am I guess I meant size L or XL bike riders when I was referring to that. The legend definitely needs a larger size - I would ride the XL 29" at 6ft tall. Looking at the Titan (and all of their 29" bikes) you gotta pay attention to the stack when looking at the reach numbers because it is larger...
