Digit Bikes Added a reply to The Bikeconomics (Mega)Thread

Earlier this year I went to People For Bikes’ Bicycle Leadership Conference. I’m not a PFB member, I don’t feel like a shill for them, but I have an in person experience which seems relevant to this: I learned that they feel that e-motos pose an urgent threat to existing routes to schools, etc. They’re still supporting new routes, but...
Honestly, thank god... I couldn't care less about 32" wheels. Im closer to buying a 27.5" bike 32" one.

I also noticed that none of the bigger brands (Specialized, Trek, Giant, Santa Cruz) launched a bike with the M2S motor today. Specialized I get, since they have their own, but the others kinda made me raise my eyebrows and wonder who was turned off by who. Longer lead times?

The motor brands are all much larger and much better funded than the bike brands. So to some degree the ebike market is becoming an emotor market. Arguably the bike brands are riding that wave.
Of all the hills people want to die on in this industry, I think brake fluid is probably the stupidest one......

Well this is interesting! However, seems like SRAM does not offer any multi-click (rapidfire) mechanical shifters (non-Transmission) anymore...

Digit Bikes Added a reply to Matching Brand Suspension

4/6/2026 11:08pm
In no particular order: 1: Most people ride whatever suspension came stock on their bike. It's easier for factories/brands to buy both front and rear suspension parts from the same vendor. ii: The stickers can match. thirdly: People like to pick a thing and be a d!ck about it. If you've picked a favorite suspension brand you'd want it on...

I think it's just a "the bike came like this and I have no reason to change it" thing in most cases. However I'd guess if you're in the market for new suspension, any reasons you might choose Brand XYZ for the fork probably apply to the shock too, or vice-versa. One of my bikes has a RS SDU Coil in place of a blown-up Fox X2, but there was no reason to replace the Fox fork. They both contain Vorsprung parts, though, so maybe I still have matched suspension.

Well, turns out the manufacturer of such shiny products, happens to be engineers themselves, and after testing and comparisons came to the conclusion that, with their design, the difference in stiffness between the 15 and 20 was only 4% a % that can easily be offset with the right choice of hub rather than something random like most people run ( see Yeti and their podium builds with dt 350 ) After riding the Edge with the 15mm axle and i9 hydra 2 front hub, I came to the conclusion that I don’t need a 20mm axle and the pain...

If adequate clamping can be achieved, the end shape of the axle end doesn’t make a difference. If you were to have a pinch clamp that couldn’t handle much torque, a non-circular end could be useful. Although in my mind that would be the time to revisit the pinch clamp design as well.

Graphite powder is a very common lubricant used in lots of places, nothing to say it can't work on some parts of a bicycle. I am a little sceptical about it being able to penetrate the chain rollers in the way a liquid would.
