I know the visuals and tubing profiles aren't the same, but the suspension design is (minus the horst link)

It kinda looks like it could be a generic bike out of Asia also. I have seen quite a few open mold companies selling direct and coming out side some actually nice looking designs. It could also explain the parts mix that is on it. If it was a photo for a larger company, it wouldn't have lower/mid-tier products on it. That said, what's going on with the chain stay? It looks beat to hell and I'm hoping that black piece is just a shadow, it looks like it's a leaf spring or just flat out broken.

In honor of the 1000th page, we should vote on the best meme of 2025: 👍🏻 for “Crab” 👎🏻 for “6-7” edit: Carcinization is the antithesis of innovation. Maybe we should keep crab talk on the crab talk forum and keep this thread focused on MTB tech rumors and/or innovation.

A water bottle *is* a range extender. And it gives you more range than any battery 😜

Turner used them in conjunction with thrust bearings in the round tube DHR. In practise they had similar issues to bushings - they have very narrow tolerances so you either had play or they wore out too fast. Especially when dealing with side loads its hard to secure all the parts and still work smoothly

How many links is to many? By that i mean, does the extra complication add so much benefit compared to a crab?

Wait wait wait. Youre wanting to pay top dollar for a Santa Cruz labeled frame that is just a crab link bike that probably already exists by another company? To each their own I guess.

bikeboardorblade Liked a comment about product review Best Aggressive Rear Tire on the Market?

I wonder if Maxxis made some changes to the compound? My friends and I haven't had very good luck with MaxxTerra DHR II's. Up front I can expected life out MaxxGrip, but need something more durable out back. DD Dual compound Aggressor lasts forever if you don't need a DHR II. As @toast2266 said the Conti's have done well so far.

Those ramped knobs do lose that thin veneer of soft rubber very quickly. But that doesn't stop this being my go to rear tire too. If they made the harder rubber a different color as an indicator to show when the soft stuff is exhausted might be interesting - though that might just be depressing. I don't think I'd complain if the softer layer were twice as deep but a little bit squirmier. Though I've not yet tried it on my own bike yet, a number of people have recommended the Aggressor to me. It seems like it's square blocks...

Something that holds our industry back is that we think that bike skills = bike design skills. They don’t. It helps to have bike skills and experience to inform bike design, but we have some amazing riders designing some absolute turds. Once we accept some of the mediocre riders might actually have deep insights into bike design we will see some huge improvements overall.
