STOKED to see Alpinestar working with them on MTB algo for the airbags! Been stoked on that concept for as long as it's been publicly seen for years and been ready for its release to moto. Intend on buying one this spring going into DH season. Means we should hopefully see an MTB algo we can update it at some point. I still think the Moto algo will work great for DH application and be a great product for protection at a higher level

From the latest Specialized Gravity YT video it looks like the riders are going to use the airbag. Meyer-Smith was using it at hardline which probably wasn't just a one-off thing then. I wonder if they will develop a DH-specific deployment algorithm.

2/17/2026 11:10am My living room clip in/out tests confirm this, got the CLs on my new shoes and SHs on my old so was able to have one on each foot to really feel the difference. I'm a fan. Can't wait to test on trail!

I don't think it's dumb at all. I run a Cushcore in the back, but not in the front. I run less air pressure in my front tire, too. Weirder still, I run fewer spokes in my front wheel and love it. Why not run a more flexible tire carcass? I absolutely want different performance characteristics out of my front and rear tires, wheels, suspension, brakes, and probably want different levels and kinds of flex in my frame vs. fork. Try it and let us know!

I thought the rear suspension did not look very well set -up in some clips. But I agree with your overall sentiment. That bike and Vali is gonna be a huge handful for the rest of the women racers. That YT is just a stiff, physical and pretty one-dimensional bike compared to what's possible on a V5. Although the other girls ain't gonna be sitting still. So it's prob gonna be a very exciting year of racing

2/10/2026 3:47pm I'd be so stoked to see the Alpinestars airbag systems used in SMX move into MTB. Barcia's crash at A1 to me was just a testament that there's tech that can save lives readily available (for the right price) for downhill mtb. Hopefully this is an entry point for a similar "Alpinestars Medical Team" system into UCI DH.

2/3/2026 11:48am I'm on a similar quest and have come to the conclusion that the answer is "try them all." I have a butcher, dhf, and assegai in the shed, then radial magic mary and kryptotal in the cart with a stockpile of sealant and an eye on cheap front wheels to make swaps easier
