If I got the right race result pulled up, he had a crash at MSA in 23 and finished 6th

I looked up the Croatia result, he got 5th which was the podium back then and I thought he hit a wall in the urban section or something like that.

Hell yeah. I said it after watching Jack and Charlie's followcams of the Trans Tazzy race, but I think a team race like Cape Epic (somehow timed to encourage proper followcam) with followcam footage would make for a pretty awesome race format. I thought that Martin Whiteley (or someone I heard on a podcast once) was pushing for an enduro format involving teams at one point.

Edit: Found it. It's called Enduro2

Course POV of Pro DH Mountain Creek. Similar to last year with a couple of extra zigs and zags.

Fantastic viewpoint and could really help to convey what’s happening out on the trails during these races. Strapping a camera to a fast wheeled vehicle is always awesome, has been since Rendezvous
My only note would be that you can’t interact with the riders. You gotta just be the camera. If the goal is high level pro F1 of bikes blah blah…is that even still the goal?
Whatever. I will watch this all day long…I’ve only had the opportunity to follow a dark line left by fast guys on one day, and it was so rad!

That's probably what I was thinking of.

There has to have been someone else who crashed and podiumed between 2008 and now. Many of those races were decided by seconds, not milliseconds. But without going through a lot of old race reports I can't say with certainty.

Love it.  Wish this is how all the enduro races were covered.

Excellent 👌 What a great way to display the sport.

Some questions/wall of text if you have time;

Do you have an opinion on viability of obtaining this kind of footage for EDR rounds and how it might be best used for promotion/racing packages? Do you see any obstacles with the speed of following male racers in top 10? Any other potential non-obvious constraints or challenges that might need to be overcome?

How would you feel about EDR live podcast/radio style show, timing TBC, maybe started towards the last couple of stages. Guests chatting shit about racing shenanigans/stories/insider info in Henry Quinney/Eddie Masters fashion with a host steering the direction of chat and interrupting with updates. A producer managing stage end/start updates(similar to the Bex Barona insta stories from the past) and SD cards dropped in from a women's and male rider follow cam footage to be commentated on. Potential there to follow same rider through a day for storylines or different each stage to try tie together the story of the race as it progresses etc.

Asa vs. Amaury South Korea race runs.

A lot closer than I had thought. Looks like Asa was closing the gap before the crash. Don't know if its gopro settings/set-up, but Amaury's POV looks calmer/more composed vs. Asa's.

Yeah I thought the same thing about the quality, must just be differences in settings.

Some quality footage from the Squamish Enduro.  A few national sleeves, some mechanical destruction, a few wrecks, and a huge huck.

I recently listened to the episode, and I think he was talking about the Trans Tasmania race that he and Jack did. It was a “traditional” format Trans race (multi day, multi location, “blind” individual stage racing) but since they seemed to be doing it probably for an appearance fee and not actually racing, they did a bunch of followcam runs which made it similar to an Enduro2 as far as how it looked on camera.

I'm not a fan of artiming. If I'm reading it right, it appears that

  • Nate Kitchen won the Mountain Creek DH today and also won the "Hole Shot" award (fastest time for 1st sector). Gwin was 2nd.
  • Kailey Skelton won among Pro women but Taylor Ostgaard got the Hole Shot prize and finished 2nd.

That big wreck was ugly to watch in person

Did Nate and Taylor win the Hole Shot?

Yes they were the winners there as well. Bigger paydays for both

It's certainly one of the better timing sites, minus a few glitches. Better on desktop than mobile.

Side note. Tight times further down the top 10 and always interesting to see non-WC racers like Kitchen always do a killer job at national races.

Medcalf outside the top 10 here after a top three qualifier in Korea. Dak close to the win here until the final sector.

Fun Fact! I own one of her old top hats. It's an old leather one with the metal springs showing through in a couple of spots and a couple of old silk ties tied around it.

Serious question... Do Red Bull sponsored athletes get a special pay bonus if they win a Monster race?
