6/25/2024 1:55pm But youre not comparing those numbers to people who have tried and been successful. Of course youd see, and be biased in htat way, as youd only see people once they frigged up, or were in over their heads. They are just bikes, its not rocket surgery, its only mildy more complex than lego.

6/1/2024 3:35am "It was concluded that no acute effects on nerve function in the dominant hand were measured after mountain bike cycling on the trail, despite high vibration doses through the handlebars." Am I missing something or does this imply there's nothing to worry about?

5/29/2024 11:46pm Seriosly, I broke a head tube off on trestle dh nothing….no support what so ever. Kona should have died ages ago. Long live YT and all the good consumer direct brands. the lbs can kick rocks. After you manage work at and live the lbs it’s really not that cool. A bunch of 20 something’s who think there so cool… and always the old creepy culty leader guy who is a supposed local pro until you find out it’s all lies lol. Do your own work save your money. A lot of weird people out there still sipping the Kona...

5/28/2024 9:30am If I can ask just a moment of everyone's time to speak for the sheep, There are just not a lot of ways to judge bike or component performance independent of the rider. The discussion already includes some examples of why (e.g. CG) and there are more. That's not to say it couldn't be done; there are research tools out in the world that I think would make child's play of even mtb's thorniest questions about what's really fastest/most stable/most comfortable/etc/etc, which to be fair are pretty thorny, given that rider expectation drives bike outcomes. Rider familiarity drives bike outcomes...

4/21/2024 6:19am Yo yo yo.. one product at a time.. lol Believe it or not, we survived on them Hutchie tires. The saving grace was that they had decent sidewall protection and we could run them tubeless which was still a novelty practice in the early 2010s. Thank god for the legendary old Mavic rims too. They're like the DT Swiss rims at that time. Factoid: Super Grom Bruni and Loris ran Hutchies early in their grom days with Lapiere and they used black shoe polish rather than sharpie as needed. :D Now back to the revered champagne Hayes Mag topic

4/17/2024 10:23pm Imagine making your dream bike with adjustable chainstays. Develop your short and long settings. Now put the CS in long position and remove the ability to adjust. Problem solved.

4/10/2024 9:52pm You end up with a bunch of variables. As many as you feel like using really. Changing any dimension causes changes to everything. Knowing what will impact what the most and least is the trick. I always work back from the shock when setting up these equations and end up with something where leverage is a function of three linkage dimensions (since link is a triangle), a second linkage dimension, and shock stroke. Looks something like this: I've taken to doing the derivative this way because it solves much faster. yw is axle position in y and, while it looks...

3/30/2024 11:13am Man its kind of sad that this is the current era of mountain biking tech and innovation. Colors, small measurements, and the same tread pattern repeated on tires. I miss the 2012-2017 era. Where enduro was just beginning and 29ers on big bikes were becoming a thing. Pros doing sometimes absurd builds… oh and cheaper bikes. Good times.

3/30/2024 11:09am Trying out special, really really soft skis showed me what carving looks like with my shitty technique and finally sent me on the path to greatly improve my skills (incidentally also triggered the raising of my cockpit on the bike...). Trying out a WC slalom ski would not give the same results, that's for sure. So there is something in the right equipment for the right cause.

3/27/2024 10:04pm So many comments recently with people being overly pedantic about reach numbers. (Not just here). 10mm is literally nothing. Swap a 50mm and 40mm stem , get narrower or wider bars, try a different back sweep. Get thinner or thicker grips, bar roll stem spacers, adjust your cleat position etc. H ell, the hand position difference between single collar lock on grips and double collar probably changes your torso position as much. Reach is just one aspect of bike fit. Writing something off because the reach isn't exactly a perceived magic number by 10mm without trying it is very close...

3/27/2024 1:45pm Man… a difference in reach of 10 or so mm is really a deal breaker? Wild.

2/28/2024 2:01pm Stoked for Hugh, back in early 2000's and I was in a mIRC Aussie mtb group chat and he was coming up with suspension ideas back then, we were all thinking he was a lunatic but here we are. Dude is switched on as hell.
