That doesn't surprise me at all. I coach our high school bike team, and one of the first things I do is try to get suspension set up within an acceptable range. I'd say one of the other big issues (outside rebound) I see is pressure, so a shock pump and calipers prove quite handy. And these are kids who are stoked on riding and probably have more knowledge than the average consumer. I also see people rocking what looks like 50% sag out on the trail, bobbing about, pedals almost hitting the ground, and it takes a lot of...

You don't have to miss it Charlie! I went with the Simonetti method on my Dreadnought with help from @JankyEric and I like it! There is the occasional rattle here and there but definitely a must when swapping brakes often. Amazon's where it's at. I am kind of with you though. There's a good chance my next bike won't have internal routing for that reason.

I was saying this exact thing to a buddy last weekend that I used to race with years ago. It was common practice to keep a spare rear brake set up and swap it if needed mid practice or before a race run in minutes.

I miss external cable routing so much. Remember swapping rear brakes at a race in five minutes or less? Thank you, Norco. Hopefully others will follow.

The only way to lean a bike against a car is the rear bike tire against a car tire. Everyone always leans the pedal/crank/seat/bars etc on stuff and wonders why bikes fall over all the time. Leaning the rear tire against something stops the the bike from being able to roll at all. If you do that you can jostle the bike around a lot and it won't go anywhere.

Just open up the cage via the pulley bolt and fix it that way?

Probably is fine with a progressive spring. Or just do it anyways, it's not like no one has run linear coils on bikes with that low of progression before.

Push hasn't been too helpful in those regards. I tried as well. Someone very reputable in suspension that I have a great relationship with offered to customize a Push for me to do that but I didn't want to go that route. Especially after how Push treated with me with my V1. Wasnt going to continue to use it. . Ext built me a custom mini Arma for my TB4 and I have a tuned Ohlins TTX22 on it now. Coil short travel bikes are so rad!

Thanks! I know I’m in a the extreme minority, wanting a shorter travel coil bike, but coming from a DH background (back when there weren’t any DH air shocks) I’ve always loved the feel of a coil on almost everything other than XC bikes.

Hey Matt, I rode and wrote about the Tallboy HERE. After only having two days on the bike now, my suspicion is that it's not really going to play that nicely with coil shocks. Ie: the beginning and ending lev ratio, combined with the amount of shock stroke won't offer the support a coil spring requires, nor the distance needed to control the shock with the lower overall progression rate. Like, you might get away with this lev rate on a 60/65mm+ stroke shock as there's more time to control the suspension movement with compression. Hopefully that makes sense? If...

Tried it this past weekend and I'll be damned. It worked. Kept me from running upstairs for the readers when centering a caliper. This was one of those tips that was the reason for the innernuts creation.

I immediately googled it to make sure he wasn't f'ing with us. Imagine having been able to do that in middle school. What does it say about you if you're old enough to need to do this but one of the first thing that occurs to you is making a joke about looking at your dick? I guess it's true that youth is fleeting, but immaturity can last a lifetime.

Nicolai/Geometron My G1 is on its second set of frame bearings, clocked in at coming up to 950,000ft of descending. Doesn’t get an easy life as it’s mainly on uplifts/chairlifts and sees a pressure washer all to frequently. proper frame alignment Tolerance of the bearing seats is very very good Angular contact at the main pivot Additional oring seals to protect the bearing On the flipside, the SC Vala I have is terrible, 450000ft of descending (in 2000 miles) and it’s on bearing set 3. Mix of bearing failures from simply wearing them out and dirt ingress. Bike never seees...

I 100% don't advocate this method, but I tend to find that using a drill (press the chuck into the inner race) to spin up a frame bearing that feels a little rough can work wonders and make it feel much smother. I normally pop the seals and flush out the old grease and renew once I've done that. Helps me extend the life of the bearings, I don't think they enjoy the small repetitive movement in pivots and spinning them up seems to help.
