GnarShred Added a reply to Nerding out on Brakes shall we? Not another tech deraliment
3/2/2026 9:06pm Hopefully they release along side the new demo. Id love to try a set. But going way back to when specialized first brought the ohlins shock in on the demo, you couldnt buy the shock alone for good while. It was oem only for however long. At least thats how I remember it could be wrong.

1/27/2026 6:08pm I think if someone isn’t capable of opening a top cap to change a spring, then I am going to assume that that same person isn’t capable of opening a top cap to adjust volume tokens. And then I am going to assume that someone who is not interested enough or capable of swapping tokens, is most likely not even...

10/30/2025 7:31pm The assertion that e-bikes decrease fitness is widespread. On the surface, the reasoning appears sound: riders often feel like they have expended more energy after a normal ride compared to an e-bike ride. Therefore, normal bikes must provide superior fitness benefits, right? Not quite. This surface-level analysis misses several crucial insights about how fitness actually works. Let's start with a simple fact: work done is work done, regardless of the bicycle beneath you. If you maintain the same effort level on an e-bike as you would on a traditional bike, you'll simply travel farther in the same time. In this...

10/30/2025 7:31pm Fair enough. I'm sure if someone is dedicated and using it as a recovery tool, sure - but they are probably already fit. Or as someone else mentioned, if you are injured and rehabbing - then yeah, its probably better than nothing. Anecdotally, the riders I know who now ride their ebikes almost exclusively have definitely lost fitness. Those same riders also now blast around everywhere in full boost mode the entire time. So...yeah. I like my ebike and its a fun toy, that's about it. (I also do not "train" or race, so this is all from someone who...

10/30/2025 2:04pm I think just from the people I know that ride an ebike the majority of the time, when they get back on a regular bike they say that its like riding on flat tires. Or riding through sand. And they forgot how much more effort it takes on a regular bike. Not sure how that equates to fitness but it...

9/17/2025 1:51am Hmm maybe there is something to that. Interesting. Using Continental 26” freeride tubes. Unsure of the valve stem material. Also I use these tubes on my other wheels and have not see any corrosion. Maybe Spanks specific alloy is more susceptible to the galvanic corrosion.

9/17/2025 1:06am I dont use any soap or spray down with a hose or anything like that. Bike stays fairly clean, I just use Isopropyl alcohol on a rag to keep everything fresh. Its got rained on a couple times out on the rack on back of my truck so thats the only times it has been fully soaked. Those times I...

9/16/2025 11:45pm Yeah thats what I think is strange is that I live in SoCal so no salted roads to be had here. Maybe out riding in Laguna and the air is salty I guess but I cant imagine it would be that salty down there unless right on the beach. Weird that is only on the valve stem and only on...
GnarShred Started a new thread Rim corrosion
9/16/2025 6:41pm Anybody have anything like this happen to their Spank rim, or any aluminum rim for that matter?Been on these rims a few years and just now converting to tubeless. Took off the original rimstrip and found some strange corrosion around the valve stem hole. It is on both front and rear. Not sure what is causing it.

9/9/2025 7:22pm Yeah its the same but not the same. Really only minor aesthetic differences and Reverse branding. Assume identical functionality. Still made by SB One hence the “colab” in the product name. Looks sick in silver though but I already have G3C 😁

7/18/2025 11:54pm I have had a much better success rate using a stiff bristle brush with dawn dish soap on rotors then anything else. Spray the rotor down with water, scrub away, spray down with water to clean, let air dry. I cannot recall the last time I have scuffed/sanded a rotor. Pads can be hit or miss salvaging, I have found that once Shimano OEM pads are contaminated they are basically garbage. However, I use drywall screen sandpaper to scuff glazed pads. Aftermarket pads that have paint on the edges of the pad material get scuffed prior to installation. I also...

TEAMROBOT Liked a product review The Wild and Wonderful New FOX Podium Inverted Fork
6/24/2025 9:45am
Fox famously dabbled with an inverted DH fork in 2011, and quickly scrapped the project due to negative rider feedback, including excessive weight and torsional flex. 15 years later, they’re bringing back the inverted idea, but upping the difficulty by moving to a single crown platform. The new fork is heavy, unconventional, expensive, and risky, but FOX thinks it’s going to blow your mind. In fact, they’ve already secured spec for the Podium on bikes from at least nine different brands for 2026, which includes a mix of e-bikes and normal bikes. You can hear more about why FOX...
