They have nothing wrong with their bikes. Like remove the brand from the frame and Im intrigued. But you put ari on it and I just hate it. Astroturfing, diapers and basic bikes to look like theyre apart of the same boat as Canyon or Specialized, then they just have this design… they just infuriate me lol.

Am I the only one that thinks using a bike diaper to hide pretty basic suspension is kinda lame. I guess it gets the people talking though.

related to the dhx release... I want to give a shoutout to the new 3c maxx terra that maxxis released. I just tried it for the first time on a 2.5 dh dhr2 as a rear tire and the longevity/wear is significantly improved. Previously, this same tire as a rear would be looking pretty shot after 5-6 full park days... but the new compound only just started to show wear ever so slightly after day 3. Suffice to say, it seems to me that it will last somewhere around 2x longer... maybe a bit less than that. Conditions were too...

@DServy sums it up nicely. I actually rode 3 bikes on this trip, 1 heavily modified enduro bike (XL nomad 6) and 2 dh bikes (L TR11 - L V10), so I got a pretty good chance to directly compare a 175/180 enduro bike to a dh bike. Further helping the comparison, is that WBP is in the worst shape this year for end of July then it has been for the last 6. Overall, I'd say that a DH bike at the bike park is the move. Name goes back some 15-20 years ago when first proper tubeless components were introduced (tubeless ready tires, tubeless wheelsets like mavic demax, which are not drilled throught etc) but a lot of us scrubs couldnt afford those and sealants were not as good as they are today so if not using proper parts the setup most likely wouldnt hold air and a ghetto setup was invented by cutting a 20" innertube and streching it over a rim and then mounting a tire, so the cut innertube would rest between the tire and the rim effectively sealing it. Do you have a way of articulating how to use these? I know that seems like a silly question, but I have major hand issues and I have a pair sitting here. The main reason I haven't put them on yet is because I'm not really sure what the actual way to use them looks like. I was going to experiment later this week. Are you pressing the edge of your hand against the bar end actively or is it more of a loosen your grip, let your hand float, and use the bar end for security?

Yeah, it’s definitely really cool tech! Alpinestar has a huge advantage as they’ve been working with systems like that in other disciplines for a long, long time. Thankfully, the transfer over is more about the fine tuning of the algorithm. I agree that more of this general type of tech would be awesome to see from others as well. I think Alpinestar will have an algorithm set up for MTB soon for public- I also wouldn’t be hesitant of running the MX one right now for MTB

I am someone that thinks a dh bike is close enough to a Spire or equivalent enduro bike and is thus not worth the steep cost to me. I went back and forth about getting a dh rig and settled on no because: The Spire is beyond capable at the park. There is no tech at Whis I can't ride nearly as fast as a DH sled and save 4 grand and Last NW Cup I did, I beat quite a few full on downhill bikes. Jumps are even more of a wash. You looking specifically at that pic? If so, that’s not his bike in the pic. He’s just unloading it. In other pics from the same day, he’s on his usual bike. But to confirm- levers are not flat enough, bars are rolled back, no stem spacers for that high stack, old fork, no ochain, diff tire set up. Sorry I rambled. Dif bike haha Now in regard to ochain… I’m definitely curious about that! He was the main guy prototyping higher/different degrees… and now it’s Sram. So it’ll be interesting to see how that’ll play out
