you might be suprised how the evo rides with some light wheels/tires. Not saying their isn’t true trail bikes that will be better. But a wheel set is cheaper and takes less space.

I must be an outsider since i just did exact follow the sram bleeding video and had nothing but great brakes with my mavens. Its so good that i now have a hard time when i ride my other bike with dominions, wich also is absolutly a flawless brake.

I spent a bunch of time demo'ing trail bikes over the last 6 months. A few impressions below, I'm 6'2" so a few of my impressions are driven off of that. -Tallboy is still the benchmark and nearly impossible to beat and the geometry has no surprises, nor weird steps between sizes. A platform that can punch above or below it's weight depending on the build you go for. A new one is coming, but it will be more of a nudge towards all mountain, yet still a trail bike. -I prefer the smuggler to the spur. The spur gets...

I wouldn't put much weight in the enduro mag test findings - the results don't make any sense. I see a few issues: 1. Shimano XTR, XT, and SLX all have the same mechanical and hydraulic power output, but the test results show them as being wildly different. 2. They also show TRP DHR evo as dramatically underperforming XTR. Having used both, this is just incorrect... 3. And lastly, XTR being next to Maven in terms of test results in laughable. Question. I see lots of discussion re treads, compounds, casings, grip, trye damping and feel. But don't see this discussed. The tyre casing breaking down over time, mainly speaking on the rear tyre in particular, but is a longer timeframe on front tyre. For example, im not light (95kegs in riding gear), competent i guess. Ride with only DD or DH casing tyres on all bikes from trail to park (be it maxxis, continental, vittoria etc). I find the casing is breaking down long before the tread is wearing out. Support and tyre feel falling off drastically after 4-8weeks depending...

Great question. I don't know yet. I'm going to ride the fork when it gets back without any additional info, and then follow up with Push to get the details. Whenever possible, I try to know less during a product test so I can hopefully avoid confirmation bias.

I have an enduro Rallon coming, with an extra DH link. I have an extra shock already. Now I can have a pedal able bike with 180mm front and 200mm rear. If I really like that direction and want more oomph, I might look for a dual crown. But mainly, it’s nice to have a bike that is heavily adjustable more so than two completely different bikes. And if it keeps our favourite bike brands in business, or passes on cost savings to us, we all win.

The DH casing HR3 has a different sidewall from the other Maxxis DH tires. The sidewall has a thicker layer of rubber near the bead that can be easily felt by hand when the tire is deflated. I haven't seen any marketing or info from Maxxis about the differences though which makes me think they're cooking up a different/better option (radial?)
