Humdinger420 Added a reply to Tips for Changing Tires

Always drop bead into center of rim. This creates slack and makes the job so much easier. #1 rule for installing tires. I just installed Maxxis DH casing with no tire levers. After the tire is installed you can use soap and water around rim bed and tire bead to reduce friction for an easier tubeless inflation if not working...
I mean…people drive ridiculous lifted trucks but I’m still going to judge the shit out of you. I’ll ask my therapist what they think about my deep seated hatred for electronic drivetrains. Carry on Vital…sorry. I don’t know where else I can be an opiated a-hole other than under the anonymity of the internet.
Clutch on the Eagle 90 has me intrigued plus the UDH. Traditional hangers bend so easily. Thanks for the tip. My two cents. Marginal gains are for professionals. Mere mortals benefit from gym, good diet, sleep, and riding your bike more not drivetrains that have batteries and cost a month of rent.
New SRAM stuff is prohibitively expensive. Still buy and use GX Eagle. Why would I need anything else? I’m a gravity rider…my derailleur goes through hell. The last thing I want is to put a $600 derailleur on my bike. Upgrades to shifting? It’s a drivetrain…I click the shifter and the chain changes gear. What is there to upgrade?
At least you made it back from your ride. I’ve run out of food and water after 90% done with a ride. Every time I would push down on the pedal stroke my adductor muscle would get a spasming cramp. This usually only happens on one leg but I’ve had it progress to both legs once. Could not pedal at...
Tallboy is a beloved bike but I found it to be not quite what I was looking for. I had mine built up with an overforked Fox 36. The result was a 120mm bike that was barely better on the uphills and definitely worse on the downhills than my 150mm bike. I had a Transition Sentinel and Santa Cruz Tallboy...

The locations of the "Trans" races are very appealing to me but cost is a concern. Trans Sierra Norte is a DREAM event, but you know what is even more appealing? Not spending thousands of dollars to go sleep in a tent, and instead getting a house rental with friends and hiring a guide. I'm in my 30s and not...

I went from one bike to two bikes and now back to one. I had an Evil Wreckoning which was surprisingly efficient, but wondered about something more fun - picked up a Follwong which I built into more trail than XC.. was a lot of fun but also realised the Wrecker isn’t the best downhill. Picked up a cheap Specialized Enduro frame on PB and loved it! Got real lucky and managed to get a full Flight Attendant upgrade for the RRP of a new Zeb. It transformed the bike - so much that I stopped using the Following. The...

150mm bike and DH bike is the way. I used to have a 170mm as my only bike but that was a bit too cumbersome for general trail riding. Entirely possible to pedal a big rig around all day but as my skills progressed I found the trails I needed an enduro bike on became less and less. I got...

X01 cassette, X01 chain, GX cranks with NX steel chainring is GOAT for durability setup. Deraileurs not so much. Regardless of tier I purchase my derailleur is MAYBE lasting me a season. If I have the same deraileur for an entire season it is going to be clapped out by the end. Not that they are bad products but deraileurs...

He has YouTube videos of him doing various testing. "Enduro vs. Stumpy Evo" and later on "Stumpy Evo vs. Stumpy 15". I kinda laugh at the SJ Evo vs. SJ15 "timed testing" video he does. Like what are you are going to do if the Evo comes out faster? Delete the footage and just pretend like it never happened? No...
Problem with Enduro racing is the guys/gals who show up weeks early and practice the course while the rest have to risk it for the biscuit after maybe one run through. At least with DH you get a day or two of practice on the course. I personally never enjoyed enduro racing but I got into mountain biking through racing...
I completely agree with the alcohol. For the past decade or so I had always traded on and off weed or booze. Recently with property taxes due I had to get my finances in order and I completely cut out both. Now two months later I am convinced alcohol is poison. No amount is healthy and provides absolutely no benefits...

This. I've seen teams underestimate the effort required for an electronic product a few times. My conclusion of this is: it's just a complicated way to solve the problem, which doesn't make it too favorable in my book. And IF you put so much work into a solution I'd rather see it go towards simplicity / durability / serviceability / smoothnes / etc. of a mechanical solution. Guess I'm just an old nostalgic.

I’ve been “lurking” this forum and specifically this thread for many years. It’s been great, but recently it’s been filled with nothing but bullshit. Downvote me to oblivion

It'd be nice to keep this thread on topic "tech rumors and innovation". This thread has been so off topic the last few weeks / months even. Ask yourself "does my comment have to do with tech rumors and or innovation"? If no, stop. Heres a quick guide to others places to chat about various other hot topics.
