You looking specifically at that pic? If so, that’s not his bike in the pic. He’s just unloading it. In other pics from the same day, he’s on his usual bike. But to confirm- levers are not flat enough, bars are rolled back, no stem spacers for that high stack, old fork, no ochain, diff tire set up. Sorry I rambled. Dif bike haha Now in regard to ochain… I’m definitely curious about that! He was the main guy prototyping higher/different degrees… and now it’s Sram. So it’ll be interesting to see how that’ll play out

Also looks like no Ochain on Jackson's V10, which would be a big change from his normal 16 degree custom Ochain setup. Either this is a freeride/bike park V10, or he has some hub magic going on. Wonder if this is a result of SRAM buying the chain of O.

5/8/2026 3:01pm Did specialized experiment with longer rear ends and taller stacks before settling on this geometry? Or is it based on Loic and Finn's apparent preference for shorter reach and chain stay and lower stack (that obviously works very well for them) and they just stuck to that? Was more travel (i.e. 220mm like commencal) considered and/or tried during prototype testing?

I kind of state the following in my opinion on the Dominions. I really don't think a light dead stroke matters as much as some people think. Since we don't spend most of our time in the dead stroke area but rather the bite point. The bite point tends to lead to brake fatigue in my experience and you can get just as much fatigue on a Dominion as any other brake. This is why a GR4 interests me...a lot.

Re: new saint. 12spd long cage saint would be super rad, especially if xt&xtr mechanical moves to dual spring instead of a clutch. But I need to get assurance if I’m retarded or not; it’s been mentioned now that this theoretical 12spd saint would retain a clutch for those who are “not concerned about efficiency.” What in the hell does a clutch have to do with drivetrain efficiency? Besides slightly affecting suspension feel, more so if your bike has a lot of chain growth, how would a clutch vs dual spring have any effect on the what the bike feels...

I can confirm that new saint is 8spd not 7spd (because Shimano) and that it will not be launched this till next summer. It has a clutch too, and rumoured to have a "enduro" version for 12spd cassettes for riders who want silence not pedaling effciency The 2.2mm rotors everyone is running in Korea, should have been launched with all the new brakes last season and make a huge difference to the lever feel

What were commercial mucoff running on their wheels/valves? Looked like something about 2 inches across, on both wheels, on (I think) every riders bike. Had a quick look in the pit bit photos and they weren’t there.

The V10 XL is 29" stock. Are you sure this isn't converting it to a 27.5"? The axle position suggests it's raising the rear end up to compensate for the smaller wheel.

I swear there was a 2.5 DH casing version of the SS available briefly - am I hallucinating? I definitely have a 27.5x2.3 DD in my tire pile, and would buy an updated 2.4 or 2.5 for sure.

Front and rear center are horizontal measurements. Doing the math it’s a 2-3mm difference if they were measured the way you suggest

6'5" here. Trail bikes in XL/XXL with F:R ratios less than 1.9 are hard to come by. I had a XXL Hightower V3 for a bit which had a 1.96 ratio. When the F:R ratio gets that extreme it feels anything but playful. I mean the front is easy to lift but having to put so much weight on your hands in corners and worrying about front wheel traction all the time doesn't give an over all playful experience. The bike actually felt cumbersome in low speed corners and sketchy at higher cornering speeds. Not super fun when you feel...
