Front and rear center are horizontal measurements. Doing the math it’s a 2-3mm difference if they were measured the way you suggest

6'5" here. Trail bikes in XL/XXL with F:R ratios less than 1.9 are hard to come by. I had a XXL Hightower V3 for a bit which had a 1.96 ratio. When the F:R ratio gets that extreme it feels anything but playful. I mean the front is easy to lift but having to put so much weight on your hands in corners and worrying about front wheel traction all the time doesn't give an over all playful experience. The bike actually felt cumbersome in low speed corners and sketchy at higher cornering speeds. Not super fun when you feel...

I think all it might take is for a product manager to go to a bike shop for whatever reason and spot the wall of tyres for $100+ a pop...

Wow, there really seems to be a resurgence in auto industry crossover product development lately...for reasons I can't really understand, given the stagnation in the bike industry.🤨 Regardless, I'm looking forward to seeing someone drive up to the trailhead with a car equipped with Dunlop tires, Bilstein shocks, and Brembo brakes, with a bike on the rack with a matching setup. Maybe we can get Recaro to start making saddles, and Momo to start making bars and grips to keep the party rolling.

Don’t think I’ve seen this here yet, but looks like Dunlop is making some MTB tires.

Friend of mine has been beating the crap out of them ever since they were available. A lot tougher than I expected. The argument that it would be hard to source one on a trip is kind of silly. You can literally just put a couple in your pocket…

I hope Bilstein puts a better lock on there before somebody carrying a Leatherman walks away with all the prototypes. (Seriously, those cable locks are astonishingly easy to cut.)

Kinda, like a spherical bearing, but implemented the way Pole (or yokes in general) does things - have a standard bushing in a standard shock with standard shock hardware mounting it to an adapter, have the shock rotated 90 degrees sideways and mount it to the frame pivots. Yeah, extending it makes the loads on it higher, as with a yoke. Yes, adding what is essentially a universal joint, will make it free in all directions and would technically open up another plane of buckling (side to side vs. just in the frame plane, whether that is up/down or back/forth...

I love how angry people on this website get when I challenge assumptions. You’re frustrated because you can’t explain flickable. You’re befuddled because we have never even had to define that term in the MTB world before: we have all just taken it for granted. Look, it’s ok to like short chainstays. You have adapted your riding to them. But you don’t need to be angry at people looking to improve/refine mountain bikes through lengthening the rear centers. Most of us just want proportional CSs not LONG CHAINSTAYS so don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll still be able to have fun...

Seeing Jackson’s brakes, it wouldn’t be the first time shimano has prototyped stuff on race bikes and then not released them. IMO the rest of the group set needs updating. The cranks don’t accept an ochain, and the derailleur is a noisy 10 speed. The whole saint group set feels outdated compared to sram. I’d love to see the new brakes come out but I’m not holding out hope. Could be this year, next, or never. Shimano moves slow, but pivot is spec’ing saint on their top tier phoenix so maybe people still want it? I wouldn’t drop $9.5k on...

There's a lot of Shimano sponsored riders who are reducing their drivetrains down to 7 speed from 10, it would be smart of Shimano to make a dedicated 7 speed Saint for that reason, 7 speed linkglide saint would be rad

Tallboy is a beloved bike but I found it to be not quite what I was looking for. I had mine built up with an overforked Fox 36. The result was a 120mm bike that was barely better on the uphills and definitely worse on the downhills than my 150mm bike. I had a Transition Sentinel and Santa Cruz Tallboy in stable at the time and going back and forth between the two was pointless. The Sentinel was only slightly heavier and substantially better on the downs. Not to say the Tallboy is a bad bike but for my skills...
