Just watched Ben Cathros round up of the race and he twice mentions MAIDEN wins, not DEBUT wins as Rick keeps saying on the commentary but apart from that error I have to really take my hat off to him and Beaumont for their commentary yesterday.. they real did increase their hype for the last 10 and helped build some excitement. Beaumont has really steadied the ship in my opinion. And Rick deserves a lot of credit for not letting the criticism destroy his confidence

8/31/2026 3:41am Fair, and actually looking at the French champs they held on Pleney a few years back (sick track), it did give race times over 3mins. https://www.rootsandrain.com/event6548/2018-jul-29-ffc-french-dh-nation… Certainly not much (any) space for team trucks or event infrastructure though. The Les Gets crush at the bottom of Pleney wouldn’t be too clever. I guess issues around off piste riding on Pleney...

had to weaponize my spectrum to chew on this nonsense. Medcalf has higher average Q1 and Q2 placings, as well as higher finals obviously. despite inconsistency, he's shown speed (and showed up to every race?) gwin has worse average placings but got in to finals twice rather than once. but experience and consistency is usually more of an overall title conversation, and not what is sought after for champs. that on top of limited WC bike time this year. i'd imagine if gwin wanted to go, he could go. and if he was not picked, that's ok too. neither option...

I don't really care who rides for the USA, but if USAC have rules to dictate selection without ambiguity (or salty debate), isn't that good? It's a very fast lift, but only gives around 500m vert (less than Fort William), if you hard a world cup level track, descending on the steep gradients (rather than meandering like mainline), it'd be one short race time. 8/25/2026 9:07am They could bring back the classic (think ski pistes) Les Gets DH they were racing ~2019. Unless that was replaced for land access? Mont Chéry has as few trails as it does due to local farmers I believe.

5/18/2026 5:43am My 2021 Deviate is still on all it's original pivot bearings. UK all-year conditions. Alps trips, uplifts, bikepacking, the odd race etc. It's had an annual re-grease through the zerks, and that's it. Grease fittings and double seals FTW.
