Added a comment about press release $2,061,000 IS UP FOR GRABS IN 2019 - INTENSE PODIUM PAYBACK PROGRAM 2/27/2019 10:11 AM

You forgot age divisions.

So it's potentially:
$500 pro men
$500 pro women
$500 vet men
$500 vet women
$500 open women
$500 Junior X guys
$500 Junior X girls
$3000 for 6 age divisions in men's expert
$3000 for 6 age divisions in women's expert
$3000 for 6 age divisions in men's sport
$3000 for 6 age divisions in women's sport

So that's $15,500 per race, per discipline. 3 disciplines means $46,500 per race weekend. 40 race weekends means $1,860,000

Obviously there's a ton of caveats (everyone has to be riding Intenses, some races might have more or less age divisions, etc.).

Still short of $2M though.

Added a comment about press release Pole Announces Enduro Squad with Matti Lehikoinen as Team Manager, Plus a New Bike 12/7/2018 1:26 PM

A video on the Pole website says it's offset 15mm. Still seems like you'd smack your leg on it. But I'd assume you can get different mounting hardware to mount in normally, probably at the cost of water bottle clearance.

Added a comment about feature How to Make Everyone Happy with Rampage 10/29/2018 1:43 PM

Taking away (most of) the riders' creativity and vision in putting together the lines would ruin everything that's awesome about Rampage.

At the end of the day, I don't really care who won or who should have one. I'm just there to watch a bunch of guys throw down. And they did that. Every single one of them.

Added reply in a thread How Much Reach is Too Much Reach? 11/19/2017 8:07 AM

I have some vague recollection of Greg Minnaar talking about how matching the stem length to the fork's offset makes everything ride better. This sort of makes sense to me, although I can't put my finger on why it should make sense. But just from my ... more »

Getting on a super long reach bike feels stable in a straight line, but starts to feel unwieldy when I've gotta make the bike do something other than fly straight. Not to mention the longer front end tends to make my back hurt on longer pedals. I'd rather ... more »

My guess is that the "Boxxer 29" is actually Boxxer legs and internals with a Lyrik Boost casting and custom crowns. Why? Get your rags ready, because your heads about to explode; that looks like a 15mm axle.

Added a comment about video Vital RAW - #TBT Gold Hill, Colorado, 2001 10/27/2016 10:18 AM

I got to ride there once or twice, maybe 2 years after this video was made - super fun trails. Aside from the tech, I remember there being some fairly massive senders, especially by ~2003 standards.

Sample size of 1 per run. Worthless. I'd imagine your second run will usually be faster than your first.

You are wrong. K2 had a light. Google and learn.

That was my thought. K2 also used some piezoelectric stuff in suspension they were building in the early 2000's. Like the skis, my general recollection is that it made no noticeable difference.
