earleb Added a reply to 2026 MTB Tech Rumors and Innovation - Longer and Slacker
12/9/2025 7:56am The previous gen Sight is about perfect balance of travel along with light yet burly. There were, and still are a ton of those being ridden on the Shore. With talk of the mid class bike making a comeback do we see the option for a 170mm Lyrik and 36 return?

12/3/2025 12:18pm New thread each year like the race thread. Pin it to the top section. Jan 1 each year force the start of the new thread and un-pin the old thread. Seems simple. Kinda scratching my head how one thread with 1000 pages is more resources than 10 threads with 100 pages. Content is content and traffic is traffic is it...

11/27/2025 10:28am We have a Ragwagon 3 and this hasn't been our experience. It's a cargo bike, but when loaded it doesn't feel like a overloaded wheelbarrow. It's my spouses bike and she's used it year around since the spring of 2020 and daily dragged two kids around on it. Our kids are small for their ages but at 8 and 10...

11/26/2025 11:54am You're very entitled to your own opinion, but I didn't hear the same contradictions you did. I've re-listened multiple times this morning and I still can't hear it the way you have. I heard Markus say they knew they were facing tough times but weren't expecting the PE firm to get to a point where they aren't willing to inject cash. The Fire Sale was an effort to get through that specific period without having to ask for more cash. That failed and then they were told 'no more'. As for your previous point, it's not exactly clear to me...

11/25/2025 12:21pm I don't own a e-mtb. Technically I should be the ideal target market, late 40's with family and limited ride time but currently no plans to get one. I am a tech geek (hand build my own full suspension frames) and keenly follow what's happening with the motor and battery tech. Specifically on riding on a range extender I've run...

11/25/2025 11:51am Personally I think a mid-sized non-removeable battery and a good range extender provides a best of both worlds Removeable battery that drops out the side or the front of the downtube add considerable weight. The options that drop out the bottom of the downtube with minimal work being the best compromise.

11/25/2025 10:02am Regarding battery energy density. The average ebike 800w battery has 1.3kg of weight in the case/wires/cell holders/bms. The rest is the cells. Battery certification to UL 2271 has impact testing for the case so safe to assume most of that 1.3kg is the case. Why don't any manufactures test their battery IN the frame to UL rating in order to...

11/19/2025 8:17am If your wife really loves the Whistler village I think she is going to be pretty underwhelmed by Revy and Golden. Neither of these are cute resort towns in comparison. They have evolved some in the last 15 years but still old resources towns. Riding at Silver Star is fun but there really isn't much there in the "village". A...

11/3/2025 10:25am Kinda bummed if they actually sold off the molds and IP on the frames to a no name China bike co. Holding out hope that in a couple years they'd keep tinkering away in the background on frame design / manufacturing techniques to make a low volume made in Kamloops frame work financially.

earleb Added a reply to E-bikes make you f*tter? Training with an eMTB
10/31/2025 10:40am Are you training (focused training time not just ride time) 8-11 hrs per week (5-6 sessions) with specific goals? If yes then do an 80/20 plan of polarization with that 80% being Z2 and the 20% being a combo of threshold and high intensity. Due to the total volume of training the body can't recover from higher amounts of high...

10/30/2025 1:07pm A lot of words for some flawed study. Optimal zone 2 is between 60% and 70%. How much of your ebike time was below 60%? Does your HR not have an upper and lower alarm setting? Were you just riding be "feel" then looking at the data after? Could you not have backed off or clicked into an easier gear...

10/21/2025 8:44pm Really sorry to hear that bad news. Sending some positive thoughts to the whole family there from just down the road on the North Shore. My spouse and I lost everything to an apartment fire back in 2009. From our experience I am hopeful your insurance process goes smoothly. Ours went well but other owners in our building didn't have...

10/15/2025 8:29pm Sorry if I'm now spamming this, but anyone reading this thread should be interested to know Tony Foales book MOTORCYCLE HANDLING AND CHASSIS DESIGN: the art and science is back in print after 20 years, and in that time I don't think I've found a better reference book on the topic! Get it now so you don't need to wait decades like I have to buy a copy! I've got a physical copy of the original 80's book but the second edition added a TON of excellent information that is still highly relevant https://a.co/d/bmfsZFI

10/15/2025 2:38pm I saw your post in IG. I had just skimmed your post and scrolled past thinking "yeah that's been out of print for ages". Then I noticed you had linked to Tony's IG and I scrolled back as I had never seen anyone link to him on IG. On his profile I realized it was back in print. Instantly ordered...

I am keen to finally get my hands on a copy of it.
